Bayley WWE Future In Doubt As Contract Nears Expiration

Former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley is heading toward the final stretch of her current WWE contract, and there is still no word on a new deal.

Her current agreement is set to expire at the end of this year, leaving one of the women’s division’s most decorated stars in a potential free-agency situation.

Reports via WrestleVotes suggest that WWE and TKO want to keep Bayley around as because she is seen as a respected locker room leader. However, no new agreement has been reached, and the company has not made any public statement about the talks.

The intrigue comes from Bayley herself, who has openly acknowledged that she has ambitions beyond wrestling and is unsure exactly what comes next once her deal runs out.

    Bayley On Her WWE Future

Bayley addressed her contract during an interview with Chris Van Vliet in April last year. She revealed she had roughly a year and a half left on her deal and admitted she had not figured out what she wanted to do after it expired.

“I have so many other things I want to make it into,” Bayley said. “I have a year and a half left on this current contract, so we’ll see what happens then. And then what? Man, I don’t know.”

The veteran also reflected on her lengthy run with the promotion while making clear there is more she wants to accomplish.

“I think I’ve done everything I really want to do, not everything. There’s still a lot I want to get done, but done so much with WWE and I’ve been here for already 12 years and there’s a huge wave of women coming in that I think are ready to take over, ready to be in those spots.”

Bayley even floated the idea that her in-ring run may not last much longer, though she expressed confidence in the future of WWE’s women’s division.

“So when I think about okay, I might be done in a couple of years, who knows? I know that it’s going to be in good hands. So that makes me really happy.”

Recent signs suggest she may be weighing her options, including a tease about a possible TNA Slammiversary appearance that added fuel to the free-agency speculation. Her continued value to WWE was underscored when Charlotte Flair praised Bayley as a rival who always pushes her to be better.

  • Bayley Drops TNA Slammiversary 2026 Appearance Tease

Bayley Drops TNA Slammiversary 2026 Appearance Tease

Former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley recently teased a possible appearance at TNA Slammiversary on June 28 following a social media exchange with former WWE star Indi Hartwell.

The interaction has sparked speculation about the WWE superstar crossing over to TNA Wrestling.

Hartwell asked Bayley on X whether she would be free on June 28, the date of TNA Slammiversary in Boston, Massachusetts. The former Damage CTRL member responded by strongly hinting she might have room in her schedule.

“I think I can fit you in my schedule,” Bayley wrote in her reply.

The tease got fans talking as WWE and TNA’s working relationship has continued expanding throughout 2026. Cedric Alexander then replied with an eye emoji reaction, adding fuel to the speculation.

Bayley has made it clear in previous interviews that wrestling in TNA has been one of her longtime goals, dating back to before she ever joined WWE. She explained that the TNA Knockouts division heavily influenced her while growing up as a wrestling fan.

“I would love to dip my toes in TNA and AAA. If we have the doors to do that, I would love to go,” Bayley said. “TNA was one of my dreams as a kid, you know? I love the Knockouts division. They were like the hottest division for so long. Gail Kim’s one of my favorites.”

With Slammiversary taking place just one day after WWE Night of Champions, Bayley’s latest comments are fueling major speculation that she could potentially become the next WWE star to cross over into TNA programming.

  • Bayley Teases Match With Tatum Paxley at the John Cena Classic

Bayley Teases Match With Tatum Paxley at the John Cena Classic

Bayley may have just found her opponent for WWE’s newest event concept, the John Cena Classic.

The day after Cena announced the event at Backlash, Bayley took to social media with a direct message aimed at NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley: “think you’re ready?”

Paxley wasted no time firing back, quote-tweeting with an enthusiastic: “OH YES I AM”

What Is the John Cena Classic?

The John Cena Classic was announced by John Cena himself at the Backlash PLE on May 9, 2026. The event concept pits main roster Superstars against NXT talent, with fans voting to crown a champion — with wins and losses described as secondary to the fan-driven experience.

The exact format, however, remains up in the air. Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has noted that the structure is still a “work in progress,” with no confirmed date or location as of yet. Cena himself acknowledged the concept could fail but said it aligns with his values for the sport.

Bayley vs. Paxley: A Match That Makes Sense

The teased matchup would be a compelling one. Bayley is one of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in WWE history, while Tatum Paxley has rapidly emerged as one of NXT’s most unhinged and entertaining characters — a wildcard who thrives in high-stakes situations.

A main roster vs. NXT clash between the two fits exactly the kind of match the John Cena Classic appears designed to deliver: fresh, fan-friendly, and easy to get behind.

No match has been officially announced, but given both women have now publicly acknowledged the idea, it would be surprising if WWE didn’t capitalize on the organic buzz.

We’ll keep you updated as the John Cena Classic takes shape.

  • Nikki Bella Calls Herself Part Of ‘Original Four Horsewomen’ After WrestleMania 42, Bayley Fires Back Hard

Nikki Bella Calls Herself Part Of ‘Original Four Horsewomen’ After WrestleMania 42, Bayley Fires Back Hard

Nikki Bella sparked an unexpected social media debate after WrestleMania 42 with a single Instagram caption, and Bayley was not having any of it.

After the Women’s Tag Team Championship match, Nikki posted a backstage photo with Brie Bella and Paige and attached a caption that immediately drew attention from fans familiar with one of wrestling’s most established group names.

    “The Original Four Horsewomen.”

Bayley, who is widely recognized as part of WWE’s Four Horsewomen alongside Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks, jumped into the comments with a direct rebuttal.

“NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EVER HEARD ANYONE CALL YOU GUYS THAT.”

The exchange came off the back of one of the more dramatic sequences of the night. Nikki had arrived at ringside on crutches after suffering an ankle injury before the match, telling fans she was not cleared to compete. Rather than pulling out entirely, she introduced Paige as her replacement, generating one of the biggest reactions of the evening.

Paige made an immediate impact once in the match, trading shots with Nia Jax, getting involved with Bayley and Lash Legend, and ultimately hitting Alexa Bliss with a Rampaige after countering Twisted Bliss to help win the championship. Paige then celebrated with both Bella Twins to close out the moment.

  • Gail Kim Reacts to Bayley’s Interest in TNA, Calls Her \’Timeless\’

7-time TNA Knockouts World Champion Gail Kim believes former WWE Women\’s Champion Bayley would have been a perfect fit for the original TNA Knockouts division.

Bayley previously expressed interest in potentially appearing in AAA and TNA Wrestling. This fueled speculation among fans about a potential run in either promotion.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Bayley had said:

“You don’t want to just be one thing. Like, there are so many promotions. When you have guys like AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, or Finn Balor, they’ve all been to these places. So I feel like it’s important to mention the past and mention these things. I would love to dip my toes in TNA and AAA. If we have the doors to do that, I would love to go.”

    Gail Kim Reacts

Gail Kim, a TNA/Impact Wrestling legend, praised Bayley\’s talent and potential crossover appeal. Kim took to X to respond to the praise and labeled Bayley a “timeless” performer. Kim wrote:

“Bayley is a timeless wrestler. She would fit into any division in any generation, especially our OG KO division! Oh and what an awesome human too.”

Bayley recently competed in a Women\’s Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Nattie and Asuka. However, she failed to qualify. She is preparing for a Gauntlet Match on the March 9th episode of Raw in Seattle.

The winner of that match will earn a championship shot against AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

  • Carmella Targets NXT General Manager Role

Shawn Michels named Robert Stone as the interim NXT General Manager on this week\’s WWE NXT broadcast, but the authority figure post vacated by Ava is drawing interest from some other familiar faces.

Multi-time women\’s champion Carmella is making her intentions clear: she\’s got an eye on that temporary honor bestowed to Mr. Stone.

    https://x.com/itsBayleyWWE/status/2018877811604500812

Her potential candidacy received an enthusiastic endorsement from Bayley, who publicly supported Carmella\’s ambitions.

\”MELLA DA MANAGER!!!!!!!! GIVE ME WHAT I WANT!!!!!!!!\”

With her background in management and history in NXT, Carmella makes an intriguing candidate.

Carmella\’s final on-screen appearance for WWE took place on March 6, 2023, during a match on Monday Night Raw. Following this performance, she stepped away from the ring to focus on her pregnancy and subsequently battled a \”drop foot\” injury sustained during childbirth.

Although she remained employed during her hiatus and anticipated a return, her tenure with the company officially ended in February 2025 when her contract expired and was not renewed.

  • Bayley Reveals Emergency Ring Gear Story From Saturday Night\’s Main Event

Bayley\’s ring gear at Saturday Night\’s Main Event almost didn\’t happen.

The WWE veteran faced Sol Ruca at the December 13 event in Washington, D.C., wearing black and red attire that paid tribute to John Cena\’s debut gear from 2002. However, the outfit required a last-minute miracle to come together.

    https://x.com/itsBayleyWWE/status/2000244355479847338

\”My original gear got stuck in some bad weather, so I text our seamstress team Friday morning asking for a miracle,\” Bayley wrote on social media Sunday. \”Lori here MADE THIS GEAR FOR ME IN 24 HOURS. I gave her the colors and she got to work. That is a TRUE superstar. Thank you @nogimmickgear!!! #NeverGiveUp\”

Lori Gassie of No Gimmick Gear crafted the complete custom outfit overnight, allowing Bayley to honor Cena on the night of his final match. Cena wore red and black trunks when he debuted against Kurt Angle on June 27, 2002 — the night he declared he possessed \”ruthless aggression.\”

Bayley ultimately lost to Sol Ruca via roll-up in approximately eight minutes. The NXT star hit her Sol Snatcher finisher before countering Bayley\’s desperation roll-up attempt to secure the upset victory. Post-match, both competitors showed mutual respect alongside their respective partners Lyra Valkyria and Zaria.

  • Sol Ruca Reflects on Breakthrough Year, Learning from Bayley

Sol Ruca is reflecting on a transformative year as she prepares for one of the biggest opportunities of her career.

The NXT star will face Bayley at this weekend\’s Saturday Night\’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.—the same card that will feature John Cena\’s final WWE match against Gunther.

In an interview with Fox News, Ruca opened up about the significance of the moment and how far she\’s come in just one year.

\”I\’m honored and I\’m really proud of myself for this past year and just putting myself out there even just to be in this world of professional wrestling,\” Ruca said. \”I am a pretty reserved and shy person. So, I feel like I\’ve pushed myself a lot this past year and I\’m really proud of myself to be in this position and really honored to be a part of it.\”

    Making History

Ruca highlighted the common thread running through her 2025—being part of historic moments. She became a double champion, holding both the NXT Women\’s North American Championship and the NXT Women\’s Speed Championship.

She also pursued the tag team titles with her partner and earned a spot in the Women\’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline after being personally selected by John Cena.

\”I\’m going to be a part of making history,\” Ruca said. \”I feel like this past year has had that common thread, you know, being a double champion and being a speed champion and North American champion and then going for the tag titles with my tag partner and then now being on John Cena\’s last show and also him picking me to be a part of Deadline. It\’s been a really cool year for me.\”

    Learning From Bayley

Facing Bayley represents a significant opportunity for Ruca to test herself against a four-time WWE Women\’s Champion who was instrumental in WWE\’s women\’s revolution.

\”I\’m so excited, especially being so new to the industry and going up against someone like Bayley who has been doing this so much longer than me,\” Ruca said. \”I\’m just really excited to learn. I\’m really excited to be in that type of environment. I\’m really excited to just put it all out there and just have fun to be honest.\”

Ruca noted that Bayley has been a supportive presence at the WWE Performance Center, helping younger talent develop their skills.

\”I think when I was really, really new to it, she hopped into a class with us and we got to wrestle around with her and I\’ve seen her in the locker room a few times like being up on Raw and SmackDown recently. She\’s really nice and she\’s really open to letting us learn and just being a good role model.\”

Saturday Night\’s Main Event airs this Saturday at 8 PM ET on Peacock.

  • Bayley Discusses Potential Backstage Roles After Wrestling Retirement

Bayley would like to continue being part of wrestling world after she retires from in-ring action.

The WWE veteran recently appeared on Undertaker\’s podcast. She talked about things such as being one of the four Horsewoman, her NXT career, being left off WrestleMania 41 card and more.

During the interview, she was also asked if she envisions herself working behind-the-scene after retiring from in-ring action. Bayley mentioned that she doesn\’t know if she will fit into the writers room but noted that she could become a producer. The former Women\’s Champion revealed that she has produced some stuff in NXT recently:

“Maybe like producing, I would enjoy that. I sat for the girls’ match with the headset. And I’ve done it a few times, I’ve produced stuff in NXT, It’s very hard, and I don’t know if I’d be a good producer right now. I see myself more as like a coach or if I were to open a school, you know, coaching and stuff, it’s very different than producing.\”

    Just Wear Another Hat: Bayley

While Bayley did not give a timetable for potential retirement, she mentioned how she would like to help young talents as much as she can before hanging her boots.

She gave the example of Roxanne Perez as someone she would like to help if she can as a producer, while continuing her own career:

“I feel like Roxanne, she’s 23. Like, okay, if I could be a producer and be around and producing your match, that would be awesome. So I have that, like, okay, maybe I should try to learn how to do that better so I can be around and be part of it and just wear another hat.”

Bayley is also holding a free three days Women\’s wrestling seminar this week in Orlando, FL. It could be a precursor to her post-WWE career whenever the female star decides to end her run an active star.

  • Bayley Reflects On Disheartening WrestleMania 41 Snub

Bayley has reflected on being pulled off WrestleMania 41.

The former Women\’s Champion recently appeared on Undertaker\’s Six Feet Under podcast. She talked about things such as her retirement plans, AJ Lee returning to WWE and more.

The female star was also asked about being pulled off WrestleMania 41 at the last second. Bayley explained that she took the whole thing as a test:

“The day they took me out? It was the day before. It’s a test. I feel like every time I get thrown stuff, it’s like I’m just being tested. Not by the company, by the universe and the world it trying to test me. It was rough. It was a little bittersweet.”

    It Was Rough: Bayley

Bayley had been involved in a storyline with Lyra Valkyria and the two were originally scheduled to compete for the Women\’s Tag titles against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez at WrestleMania 41 night 2. During the night 1 pre-show, however, The Hugger was shown to have been attacked backstage and pulled off the match.

The returning Becky Lynch would replace the fellow Horsewoman in the match and win the tag titles with Valkyria. Bayley suggested that she wasn\’t informed of this change of plans in advance and she felt bummed after putting in the effort to make the tag team with Lyra work:

“When I was told what was happening, I was like, ‘Oh, now I’m bummed.’ For one, I’m not at WrestleMania. For two, we put all this work in and I really tried to make us look like a team. It was rough, but it becoming part of a storyline and it becoming what it is now made it a little bit nicer.\”

Bayley later mentioned that a number of people including CM Punk, reached out to her at the time and consoled her, sharing their own similar experiences.
