MLW Fusion will reveal the secret origins of Don Gato during its two-hour season premiere this Saturday, May 30, as Major League Wrestling builds a new mystery storyline around the masked luchador character.
Actor and comedian Danny McBride, joined by his friend Steve, narrates the reveal, walking MLW’s audience through a backstory the promotion is billing as one of the strangest threads of its relaunch. Don Gato doubles as the mascot of Don Gato Tequila, the brand McBride backs and fronts as spokesman.
A Storyline Built Around Danny McBride’s Tequila Brand
MLW introduced the Don Gato character in 2025, framing him in storyline as a luchador turned tequila entrepreneur. The partnership has already produced a televised special, MLW x Don Gato: Lucha de los Muertos, which ran in Charleston, South Carolina on November 20, 2025.
The crossover carried into the new year, with Don Gato and McBride appearing at MLW Battle Riot VIII in Orlando in January. Saturday’s premiere moves the act onto Fusion itself, with MLW treating the secret origins segment as an ongoing angle rather than a one-off cameo.
How To Watch The MLW Fusion Premiere
The premiere is the first new weekly episode of Fusion since December 2023, ending a stretch in which MLW ran taped specials in place of regular television. The company first announced the weekly revival earlier this year. The two-hour special airs free on the MLW YouTube channel at 6:05 PM ET, streams on VEEPS, and gets a 10 PM ET encore on beIN Sports.
MLW is billing Trevor Lee vs. Austin Aries as the first major fight of the new era, with ZAMAYA’s promotional debut and a women’s match carrying title implications also booked.
