Mick Foley Interview

Mick Foley isn’t ruling out one more match, and he already has a name in mind. Speaking on the Going Ringside show in Jacksonville, the Hall of Famer explained why AEW felt like the right landing spot and what it would take to get him back between the ropes.

“I’d admired the show. I’d loved the show. I knew Tony Khan from way back and they had a spot on their roster for me and it felt like a great fit. I’m happy to be there.”

Foley made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing, and said afterward he was genuinely happy to be part of the company. He drew a pointed contrast between the atmosphere in Jacksonville and his old workplace.

“It’s really fun for me just to watch how much Tony loves it. I’m not gonna knock the other organization, but let’s just say when you came through the curtain, it was a different type of experience. I love the idea that he loves it and he makes it really clear that he loves what he’s doing.”

The One More Match Question

The comeback talk started with Foley’s interview with Ariel Helwani, and he left the door open without committing to anything.

“I had this great 30-minute conversation with Ariel Helwani and he asked me about the possibility of one more match. You never know. I did say if the stars were aligned, but we have to see how the stars align. I’d have to be in really good shape and feel like I could have a match that wouldn’t disappoint people.”

He then named the opponent who interests him most, with his usual self-deprecating honesty about his current condition.

“I pointed out to Darby that I am on record of saying he would be a dream opponent. So you never know what the future may bring. I’m down a lot of weight, but my cardio is suspect at best, and I’d still have to lose another 30 pounds just to hit poor conditions. So we’ll see if there’s some changes in the next year.”

Foley isn’t the only one floating the idea. Jeff Jarrett recently backed a Foley in-ring return, saying the legend can still have one last match.
