  • Roman Reigns On Family Life: You Have To Be Present

Roman Reigns may be one of the biggest names in pro wrestling today, but he\’ll never be too big to make time for his family. On the What\’s Your Story? podcast, Reigns explained how the adoration of millions around the world doesn\’t matter when he steps through the door of his home.

“You’ve got to be present when you go home. You have to be present. It doesn’t matter what you do out here, you have to be present. I took that to heart so much, and I\’ve transformed that to be a bigger part of my life.”

A global Superstar who is taken across the world, Reigns\’ role as a family man is easier said than done. For the OTC, finding the right balance is a priority, not just for him, but for any one starting a new life on the road.

\”Being able to balance home and road life, that\’s a key priority. That\’s a puzzle to figure out for a young performer traveling the world trying to make it… To be able to be a professional in both regards, be a professional in your personal life too.”

Reigns and his wife Galina met in 2005 at Georgia Institute of Technology and married in 2014. Together, the pair have five children, an eldest daughter and two sets of twin sons. Reigns doesn\’t have plans for any more children, refuting a recent rumor of a sixth child.

Reigns has plenty of family around him in WWE, but time away from his wife and children can come often and with great difficulty. For Reigns, his family is his priority as he makes sure to be fully with them whenever they are together.

  • Roman Reigns Won\’t Choose Between WWE & Hollywood

Roman Reigns may have Hollywood aspirations, but the OTC isn\’t prepared to choose between the silver screen and the squared circle. Appearing on Stephanie McMahon\’s What\’s Your Story? podcast, Reigns shared his bold goal: to be both an active WWE Superstar and a Hollywood A-Lister simultaneously.

“I wanted to be the first guy who could do both. Damn near lead a movie. And then also still, you know, main event, a pay per view. I don\’t want to stop being a WWE Superstar in order to wear other hats… I\’m always going to be Roman Reigns.”

Of course, Reigns isn\’t the first WWE name to dip a toe into acting. Whilst he acknowledges that John Cena has reached massive success on the big screen as his WWE career took a back seat, Reigns plans to do things differently.

\”He [John] did it his way. But to really be able to do both and like damn near lead a movie and then also still, you know, main event a pay per view and to have that type of responsibility, because there\’s a lot riding on that.\”

Reigns has taken some acting roles in the past and will be a part of the highly-anticipated Street Fighter remake that\’ll also feature Cody Rhodes. Even as his star in Hollywood continues to grow, Reigns remains a wrestler at heart.

“I don\’t want to stop being a WWE Superstar in order to wear other hats. I\’m always going to be a WWE Superstar. I\’m always going to be Roman Reigns and I don\’t want to ever have to choose.”

On WWE TV, Reigns has found himself embroiled in a feud with Bronson Reed and a match between the two will happen at Clash in Paris. Whatever comes next, expect the OTC to show his talent and charisma, both in and out of the ring.

  • Bo Dallas: Wyatt Sicks Haunted House Is Bray\’s Dream Come True

A new haunted house experience featuring the Wyatt Sicks is a dream come true for the late, Bray Wyatt, according to his brother Bo Dallas. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Bo discussed the upcoming feature, a crossover between WWE and Universal Studios.

\”We grew up being such horror fans. Anything scary, different, wild, we were always interested in it. So I knew that was Windham\’s dream and he was reaching out to Mike throughout the years.\”

Mike Aiello, a creative director at Universal Studios, shared that the experience will feature a never-before-heard version of the faction\’s theme song \’Shatter.\’

\”It’s actually one of the last things you’ll hear as you’re going through the final room of the experience. We were blessed—Jamie Morgan came to the table and said, ‘Hey, here’s this version of the theme that has never been heard.\’\”

The attraction, titled WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks, wll be one of the attraction at Halloween Horror Nights 2025. The house will debut at Universal Orlando Resort on August 29, and will be one of 10 haunted houses at Universal Orlando. The experience will run on select nights until November 2.

This new attraction comes amid a boon in the group\’s fortunes. After a lengthy absence from TV, the group is not only back, but currently hold the WWE Tag Team Championships. The group captured the titles in July 2025, with the titles officially being held by Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy.

As for what\’s next for the group, time will tell. One thing is clear is that the faction is ready to terrify, both in and out of the ring.

  • Kevin Owens on Viral Photo: Stop Panicking, I\’m Still Fat

Recently, a photo of Kevin Owens went viral, in which the Canadian looked much slimmer while attending the Daytona International Speedway. With Owens having been out of action since before WrestleMania, the image has raised questions of if fans will see a more lean Prizefighter whenever he\’s back in the ring.

Taking to X, Owens addressed the viral photo, explaining that it may not reflect the reality of his situation. Seeing the funny side of things, Owens shared that \”I\’m still fat,\” before sharing that \”Everyone needs to calm down.\”

Owens attended the Daytona race and got the festivities started with a revving of the engines. In a separate post, Owens shared that \”I had a blast meeting everyone there and learning more about NASCAR and everything that goes into these events.\” Owens added that the next time he attends, he doesn\’t want to just be a host, but asked NASCAR to \”let me drive plz.\”

As for when Owens returns to action, that remains to be seen. But fans can expect the Prizefighter to hit the ground running once he\’s back, no matter how large or thin he may be.

  • Mark Briscoe Welcomes Baby Boy, Demands TNT Title Match

Mark Briscoe wasn\’t present at the August 27, episode of AEW Collision, but he had a very good reason to miss the show. In a pre-taped segment that aired during Wednesday’s show, cameras caught up with Briscoe at his family’s farm. The former ROH World Champion explained that he missed the show to be home for the birth of his new son, Mack.

\”The reason I ain’t there is ’cause we just welcomed a new Briscoe into the world. Meet baby Mack, y’all!\”

While Briscoe was elated at this newest member of the family, his attention quickly turned back to wrestling, specifically calling out Kyle Fletcher. He issued a direct challenge for the TNT Championship, making it clear he’s ready to fight when AEW comes to Philadelphia.

AEW will be running events at the historic 2300 Arena in Philadelphia through to September 11, giving Briscoe time to prepare for the Fletcher match. It remains to be seen what the TNT Champion\’s response will be, but Mark Briscoe is keeping a close eye on the gold.

We here at SEScoops would like to congratulate Briscoe and his wife on the latest edition to their family.

  • Shotzi Blackheart Mourns Beloved Chickens After Attack on Coop

Shotzi Blackheart has shared the sad news that four of her pet chickens have been killed after an animal got into their coop. On X, Shotzi shared the sad news that her beloved Dolly, Ozzy 1, Ozzy 2, and Ozzy 3, had all been killed in the night. Shotzi shared that \”Farm life is hard sometimes\”

This isn\’t the first time Shotzi has lost one of her chickens. In the comments, Shotzi shared that Pekpek, a favorite among fans familiar with her farm, died four years ago. Now, Shotzi has just three chickens left, one of them being named Ozzy.

Shotzi isn\’t the only wrestling name to spend time on the farm when not in the ring. WWE Superstar Liv Morgan recently gave a tour of her Florida farm which includes chickens, cows, a pig, cats, and dogs. The former Women\’s World Champion had been running the farm with Bo Dallas, though the couple are no longer together.

For Shotzi, this is a difficult time as the animals she had been raising were killed in what should\’ve been a place of safety. Shotzi was cut from WWE earlier this year and has been making waves on the independents ever since.

Naomi won\’t be competing anytime soon due to her pregnancy, but Saraya is excited to see what\’s next for her once she\’s back. On X, Saraya was asked for her thoughts on the former Women\’s World Champion and gushed about her friend/former colleague.

Saraya then reflected on the wider world of women\’s wrestling, a world she is grateful to be a part of. The former WWE and AEW Champion is pleased to see \”beautiful things\” accomplished in women\’s wrestling, and is proud to be a part of the industry.

\”Every female wrestler you ask my opinion on I’m gonna say they’re all incredible. Because they are. Women’s wrestling is doing beautiful things and I couldn’t be happier and prouder to have been apart of it.\”

With Naomi out of action, a new WWE Women\’s World Champion will need to be crowned. Stephanie Vaquer will battle an opponent yet to be named for the vacant gold. Vaquer earned a title shot at WWE Evolution, while her opponent will be revealed on the September 1, edition of WWE Raw.

As for Saraya, it remains to be seen what the future holds for her, as many fans hope to see a WWE return for the former Paige. With the Brit saying she\’s open to a return, don\’t be surprised if Saraya soon finds herself in the WWE Women\’s World Title picture.

  • Chelsea Green’s WrestleMania Shirt Backfires in Matt Cardona\’s Pop Quiz

Chelsea Green may have committed much of her life to professional wrestling, but that doesn\’t mean she has an encylopedic knowledge on the business. In a recent video shared by her husband Matt Cardona, Green wears a WrestleMania 2000 shirt, prompting a pop-quiz from the self-professed Indy-God.

Green instantly shares that she got this shirt for free, though that didn\’t stop Cardona\’s questioning. The former NWA World Champion first asks Chelsea to name a single match from WrestleMania 2000, a task Green \”literally couldn\’t\” complete. Not only that, Green admits that \”I couldn\’t even tell you who wrestles in 2000.\”

With the card remaining unshared, Cardona tries a different approach. As WrestleMania 2000 was not the 2000th WrestleMania, but rather the year of the show, Cardona asks Green which number WrestleMania it was. Green throws out several guesses, including being a year off with WrestleMania 17 (2001) before giving up, adding that \”I don\’t even know what WrestleMania it is now.\”

For context, WrestleMania 2000 was the 16th iteration of the show of shows and saw Triple H defeat The Rock, the Big Show, and Mick Foley in the show\’s main event. Whether Green goes back to watch the show remains to be seen.

  • Chris Jericho & More Give Big To Syko Stu Recovery Fund

The attack on Syko Stu at the recent KnokX Pro Wrestling event has shocked wrestling fans and raised questions as to how this incident was allowed to unfold. With Stu hospitalized as a result of Raja Jackson\’s attack, the wrestling world has stepped up to help the injured star out.

A GoFundMe has been created to help Stu and his family. The fund will cover medical expenses, recovery support, and loss of income, according to Stu\’s wife. The wrestling world and beyond hasn\’t been afraid to give big, as seen with the figures below:

    • Content creator MrBeast: $10,000
    • Chris Jericho: $2,500
    • Jack Perry: $1,000
    • Swerve Strickland: $1,000
    • Rusev: $500
    • Trent Beretta: $500
    • Basketball player Kristaps Porzingis: $500

So far, the fund has raised over $125,000 and that number is continuing to climb. As emotions continue to run high over this incident, with outrage aimed at Raja Jackson, it is great to see the wrestling world unite to help out one of their own.

You can find out more information from the GoFundMe by clicking here.

  • Backstage Response to Becky Lynch\’s Ozzy Osbourne Jibe on WWE Raw

Becky Lynch might have gone too far during the August 25 episode of WWE RAW when she tried to rile up the people of Birmingham, England. Appearing in the hometown of Ozzy Osbourne mere weeks after the music icon\’s death, Lynch didn\’t hold back in her insults on the city.

“The only good thing that came outta here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham I’d die too.”

This line has split opinion, with some seeing at fair game for a heel trying to get \’heat\’ while others have seen it as too far. Ozzy\’s daughter Kelly has slammed Lynch as \”disrespectful\” and said that WWE should feel ashamed for such things to be said.

According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, the line was not cleared with the Osbourne family, and WWE is genuinely embarrassed by how the segment played out. There have been discussions about both a public apology for the line, as well as a private apology to the Osbourne family.

Whether an apology is ever made on TV, time will tell. But this incident shows that there are certain matters that are seemingly too far, even for the heel Women\’s Intercontinental Champion.

  • Shayna Baszler First Post-WWE Match Announced

In May 2025, Shayna Baszler was released from WWE, despite having several years left in her contract with the company. Now, the former NXT Women\’s Champion\’s return to the ring has been confirmed.

Prestige Wrestling announced that Shayna Baszler will take on Masha Slamovich at Prestige Roseland XII on October 5. This will mark Baszler\’s first match for Prestige, as well as her first match post-WWE. Her most recent match took place in April at GCW\’s Bloodsport while Baszler was under a WWE contract.

While Baszler has been out of the ring, she\’s been busy amid this absence. It was confirmed over the summer that Baszler had served in a producer role at a WWE NXT event despite her release from the promotion. At the time, Baszler did not share if this was a one-off or a sign of a new role within the company.

Known for her MMA-inspired style, Baszler plans to bring the hurt to Prestige Wrestling on October 5. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest from the former WWE NXT Women\’s Champion.

  • Rampage Jackson Says He\’s Getting Death Threats Over Son\’s Attack

UFC alum Quinton \’Rampage\’ Jackson has claimed that he has been on the receiving end of death threats following his son Raja\’s attack on Syko Stu. The attack at the recent KnokX Pro Wrestling event has shocked wrestling fans as well as those within the business. Raja Jackson delivered a series of punches to a seemingly unconscious Stu, resulting in him being hospitalized in critical care.

Speaking to Joy Of Everything, the elder Jackson claimed that he\’s been receiving death threats from \”a lot of racist people,\” adding that some are calling him a \”bad father.\” Jackson, who appeared for TNA Wrestling in 2013, added that such vitriol is \”uncalled for.\” Despite having spoken up against his son\’s actions like many, Rampage added that \”anything I says gets twisted.\”

Raja Jackson has dodged accountability for the attack, instead blaming a cameraman who filmed the KnokX Pro Wrestling event. Though many have been outraged at his actions, some have taken a more neutral stance. WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has said that Syko Stu bears some responsibility for the assault, while Rob Van Dam has suggested that Jackson was manipulated into the attack.

This incident has cast a long shadow over KnokX Pro Wrestling, which has been cut as a WWE ID affiliate as a result. A GoFundMe for Syko Stu has been launched by his wife and has surpassed $125,000.

  • Raja Jackson: It Wasn\’t My Fault, Blame the Cameraman

Raja Jackson\’s actions at KnokX Pro Wrestling\’s latest event have shocked wrestling fans, and now the MMA fighter has broken his silence over the incident. At the event, Jackson delivered a series of punches to the head of a seemingly unconcious Syko Stu, resulting in the latter being hospitalized in critical condition.

Countless fans and wrestling insiders have expressed their outrage at the attack while questioning how such a moment was able to unfold. In his first public comments since the incident, Jackson avoided accountability, instead pointing the finger of blame at a camera operator.

    \”It wasn\’t my f***ing fault! The god-damn cameraman\’s fault! I know he\’s watching this s***… How could you? How f***ing could you. It\’s what I expected though. It\’s all good, we\’re gonna figure this s*** out.\”

While the vast majority of people have been outraged by Jackson\’s actions, including his UFC alum father, some have come to his side. Mark Henry has said that Syko Stu bears some responsibility for the assault, while Rob Van Dam has suggested that Jackson was manipulated into the heinous actions.

Jackson has been banned from future events for KnokX Pro, who have lost their affiliation with the WWE ID program as a result of the attack. Whatever comes next, it appears that Jackson\’s future in wrestling, if he has one, will forever be tained by this attack.

Warning: Clip below features profanity and a racial slur.

  • Ash By Elegance: TNA Title Win Shows Not To Burn Bridges

New TNA Knockouts World Champion Ash By Elegance is relishing her recent title win, a victory that demonstrates the importance of keeping bridges. Elegance brought the title back to TNA at WWE Heatwave, dethroning NXT\’s Jacy Jayne in a triple-threat match that included Masha Slamovich.

The biggest victory of her career to date, Elegance\’s win at Heatwave comes just short of two-years after her release from WWE. Taking to social media, the former Dana Brooke reflected on her win, her journey outside WWE, and how her win shows that she was wise not to burn a bridge with her former employer.

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/08/\"https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/08/\"

During her WWE run, Elegance never held a major singles title, but was instead a 15-time WWE 24/7 Champion, the second-most number of reigns behind Ron \’R-Truth\’ Killings. With her bridges stronger than ever and WWE\’s ongoing partnership with TNA, don\’t be surprised to see more of the new Knockouts World Champion on WWE programming.

  • Drew McIntyre Targets Randy Orton With Old Yeller Threat

Drew McIntyre will put Randy Orton out of his \’misery\’ following the Viper\’s RKO on the Scottish Warrior during a recent SmackDown. During the August 22, episode, as McIntyre said how Cody Rhodes has no allies left in WWE, Orton floored McIntyre, showing that there are people still on Rhodes\’ side.

On X, McIntyre shared a fiery promo aimed at both Rhodes and Orton. Saying Rhodes should enjoy the \”gift\” of time off, an absence caused by a McIntyre attack, Drew made his bold claim.

\”The winds of change are blowing through WWE, and we’re sick of the same Cody reruns, week after week. Change means no champion.\”

McIntyre then turned his attention to Randy Orton, questioning why the veteran continues to involve himself in his business. Comparing Orton to the dog Old Yeller who has to be put down in the classic book, McIntyre called him a legend ready to be put down and suggested he is looking for a way out of WWE in one final blaze of glory.

\”You’re Old Yeller. You want to go out in a blaze of glory. I think you see the end coming, and you’re trying to find your way out of this industry. And I’m happy to oblige.”

McIntyre ended with a warning to Orton not to try another sneak attack or risk facing violent consequences. While no match has been made, fans can expect the pair to come face to face sooner than later.

  • Swerve Strickland Set For Torn Meniscus Surgery

Swerve Strickland will miss considerable time in the ring due to recovery from a torn meniscus surgery that is very near. Bodyslam.net reports that Strickland will undergo the surgery this Wednesday, August 27. The report was later confirmed by Fightful.

Strickland has been dealing with the meniscus tear since 2019, Fightful adds, and that he was expected to take time off after Forbidden Door. AEW\’s most recent pay-per-view from London, England saw Strickland fail to beat Kazuchika Okada in an AEW Unified Championship match. Post-match, Okada trapped Swerve\’s knee between the post and ring steps and struck him with a steel chair.

Strickland\’s absence opens up a void for somebody to step up into his spot on the AEW roster. A former AEW World Champion, Swerve is regularly featured in main event segments and matches and it remains who fills the gap in the card.

Swerve isn\’t the only notable name who\’ll disappear from AEW\’s shows as Will Ospreay is dreading an upcoming surgery of his own. As AEW prepares to move ahead without two of its most popular stars, fans await to see what\’s next for Tony Khan\’s promotion.

  • Will Ospreay Grateful For WWE Support As Surgery Looms

Will Ospreay is set to miss considerable in-ring time as the Aerial Assassin will undergo surgery for two herniated discs in his back. This setback will force Ospreay of AEW TV for months, and some in WWE are also pulling for the former International Champion.

Speaking to the Metro UK newspaper, Ospreay shared that many people from WWE have reached out. Despite not being with WWE, Ospreay has been met by a wave of support from those in the company.

“I’ve got people in (WWE) that I’ve never met before in my entire life, that have reached out because of this neck injury, and they have gone, ‘Hey, if you need a doctor, or if there’s any questions that need to be answered.’

\”Every single one of them are super lovely. And I wish them all the best. I really do.”

Ospreay has been honest about this injury, sharing that he is terrified of what\’ll be his first surgery related to pro wrestling. Ospreay also believes that this surgery could forever change his in-ring offense, forcing him to cut back on some of his most high-risk attacks.

There\’s no word yet on when fans can expect Ospreay back in the ring, but fans eagerly await his return. The comments from those in WWE show that when it comes to wrestling injuries, support transcends beyond the promotional barriers.

  • AJ Mana Explains Telling Raja Jackson To Give A Receipt

The events at KnokX Pro Wrestling\’s latest event have shocked the wrestling world and raised questions as to how Raja Jackson was allowed to assault a seemingly unconscious Skyo Stu in the ring. Now, AJ Mana, one of the parties involved, has spoken up about his involvement in this unfortunate situation.

Prior to the attack, AJ Mana was part of a segment in which he encouraged Raja to give Stu a \”receipt\” for a previous issue between the two. Many have said that Mana bears some blame for Raja\’s actions that left Stu hospitalized in critical care.

On Facebook, Mana posted the following statement:

\”I want to take a moment to address the recent incident at KnokX Pro. First and foremost, my thoughts are with Syko Stu and his family — no one ever wants to see a fellow performer get seriously hurt.

\”There’s been a lot of speculation online about my role that night. The truth is, I was in character and speaking in the language of wrestling. Everything I said was part of the show, and I never intended — or encouraged — real harm. This was a situation that unfortunately got out of hand due to miscommunication behind the scenes.

\”Wrestling is built on trust, respect, and protecting each other in the ring. That’s what I stand for, and anyone who has worked with me knows that. I respect this business, I respect the fans, and I respect the performers who step between those ropes. I hope we can focus on Stu’s recovery and making sure something like this never happens again.”

A GoFundMe has been created for Syko Stu which has already reached more than half of its $60,000 goal. As the fallout of this incident continues, including potential legal action against Jackson, this is a situation nobody wants to see repeated.

  • Fate Of The Women\’s World Title Revealed on WWE Raw

The fate of the WWE Women\’s World Championship will be decided within a matter of days, it has been confirmed. During the August 25, episode of WWE Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce spoke with Stephanie Vaquer, the number one contender for the title. Though Vaquer had earned a title match for Clash in Paris, Pearce shared that due to Naomi\’s pregnancy, a title match in Paris is no longer feasible.

Instead, Vaquer will face an opponent of Pearce\’s choosing at a show yet to be decided. Fans won\’t have to wait long to find out who the Chilean Superstar will face, as they\’ll be revealed on the September 1, episode of WWE Raw.

For Vaquer, already an NXT Women\’s and Women\’s North American Champion, the Women\’s World Title would be her first taste of main roster gold. Time will tell who she\’ll face for the vacant title, but expect a hard-fought contest from La Primera with the Women\’s World Championship on the line.

  • MrBeast Offers Help For Veteran Syko Stu After Raja Jackson Attack

YouTube superstar MrBeast has stepped forward to offer financial assistance to independent wrestler Syko Stu following the shocking actions at the KnokX Pro Wrestling event. After an attack by Raja Jackson left the Army veteran hospitalized with serious injuries, MrBeast took to X to share his support.

Stu, real name Stuart Smith, was attacked by Raja Jackson at the KnokX Pro Wrestling even in Los Angeles. What began as a planned wrestling spot escalated when Jackson delivered over 20 real punches to Smith’s head while he lay unconscious on the mat. The incident has received widespread condemnation from wrestling fans, pundits, and those in the wider news media world.

Smith, who began wrestling in 2017 as therapy for PTSD after returning from military service, suffered broken facial bones and lost multiple teeth in the attack. He remains in critical but stable condition at a Los Angeles hospital, according to his brother.

The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident, while Kick has permanently banned Raja Jackson from its platfom. KnokX Pro has banned Raja for the \”selfish, irresponsible act of violence\” while Raja\’s father, UFC alum Rampage Jackson has also condemned his son\’s actions. The situation is ongoing.

  • Absent AEW Star Reaches Out To Young Bucks After Forbidden Door Loss

AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door 2025 hardly went the way the Young Bucks would have hoped for. After being embarrassed with the use of Hanson\’s Mmmbop (their first wrestling theme), the Jackson brothers were on the losing end of the show\’s Lights Out Steel Cage main event.

In footage taken post-Forbidden Door, the former AEW EVPs can be seen drowning their sorrows in some comfort food while watching the main event. The pair were interrupted by a phone call from Jack Perry, who they\’d promptly hang up on.

Perry has been missing from AEW TV for over nine months, though it is believed he could be back soon. Perry has been backstage at tapings of AEW programming in July and was said to be in good spirits. Perry was aligned with the Bucks as part of The Elite prior to his hiatus.

Perry has not appeared on AEW programming since he lost the TNT Championship to Daniel Garcia at Full Gear 2024. Now, all signs point to Perry inching closer to a return, though finding allies may prove harder for the Scapegoat than first thought.

  • Inside Dwayne Johnson’s Most Vulnerable Role Yet

Dwayne \’The Rock\’ Johnson is an established name in box-office blockbusters, from explosive action hits to family-friendly animations. Now, the former WWE World Champion is taking on a much different role in A24\’s impending Mark Kerr biopic \’The Smashing Machine.\’

For Johnson, the role of the UFC fighter who battled both opponents and substances, is a far-cry from the likes of Jumanji or the Fast & Furious franchise. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Johnson was open about his nerves leading up to production on The Smashing Machine.

“It was very real. I had not experienced that in a very, very, very long time, where I was really scared and thinking, I don’t know if I can do this. Can I do this? I realized that maybe these opportunities weren’t coming my way because I was too scared to explore this stuff.”

The Smashing Machine reunites Johnson with Jumanji co-star Emily Blunt, who is impressed by Dwayne\’s drive to do something new. The English actress reflected on how the role as Kerr is different to anything Johnson has done before.

“DJ has been pigeonholed into the image of the big hero who’s got all the answers and he’s going to fix everything and he’s invincible. I think until this moment, maybe he thought that was the only lane that people wanted to see him in.”

Johnson has had his eye on The Smashing Machine since 2019, when he reached out to co-director Benny Safdie about a potential Kerr project. Though the pandemic derailed countless plans in Hollywood, Johnson never gave up on The Smashing Machine, as Safdie explained:

\”Dwayne felt so deeply about it, it was something I couldn’t shake… It was literally like, ‘What about the thing you haven’t stopped thinking about for four years? That’s it!’\”
