  • Pro Wrestling Injury Report Roundup: March 2025

Injuries are an unfortunate reality in professional wrestling, often altering storylines and creating opportunities for other performers. This comprehensive roundup tracks the current injury status of wrestlers across major promotions, from recent setbacks to long-term recoveries.

    Recent Injuries

Here are some of the latest injuries that have occurred over the past few months:

    WWE

Bronson Reed (Raw) – The powerhouse suffered a fractured talus bone at Survivor Series in November 2024. WWE has kept him off television while he recovers, though he\’s been posting rehabilitation updates on social media. Expected return timeline is still unclear.

Tonga Loa (SmackDown) – The Bloodline member tore his bicep during the Survivor Series event in November 2024. This injury typically requires 4-6 months recovery, potentially putting his return around April-May 2025.

Apollo Crews (SmackDown) – Crews suffered a torn pectoral on January 31, 2025. This serious injury typically requires 6-9 months of recovery time, likely keeping him out until late 2025.

JD McDonagh (Raw) – The Judgment Day member sustained broken ribs and punctured lungs on January 27, 2025 during a particularly brutal table spot. McDonagh remarkably finished the match despite the severe injury. His recovery timeline remains undisclosed.

Cora Jade (NXT) – Jade reportedly suffered a possible concussion during her March 4, 2025 match. WWE has been extremely cautious with concussion protocols, and her return will depend on passing cognitive testing. She\’s already back in action, but even a concussion scare could have future implications.

    AEW

Swerve Strickland – The AEW World Champion confirmed suffering a ruptured eardrum at Revolution on March 9, 2025. Despite the injury, Strickland is expected to work through it and defend his championship as scheduled.

Momo Watanabe – Watanabe sustained an ankle injury during her match at Revolution on March 9, 2025. The severity hasn\’t been officially disclosed, but she was seen in a walking boot at recent tapings.

Mercedes Moné – The CEO suffered a bruised larynx at Revolution, limiting her ability to speak. She\’s expected to continue appearing on television while recovering, though her in-ring work may be limited temporarily.

Will Ospreay – The aerial technician appeared to injure his leg during his Revolution match but managed to complete the bout. Early reports suggest it may be a minor sprain rather than a serious injury.

    TNA

Matt Hardy – At TNA Sacrifice on March 14, 2025, Hardy was evaluated for a deviated septum and has not been medically cleared to compete. The timeline for his return remains uncertain as medical evaluations continue.

Jeff Hardy – The high-flyer suffered a lower-body injury at TNA Sacrifice on March 14, 2025. He has not been cleared to compete, though the exact nature and severity of his injury haven\’t been fully disclosed.

Moose – The TNA World Champion suffered a hip injury at Sacrifice on March 14, 2025, and is currently not medically cleared to compete. This injury could significantly impact upcoming championship storylines.

Mustafa Ali – The TNA X-Division Champion was checked for a jaw injury following TNA Sacrifice but has been medically cleared to continue competing.

Lei Ying Lee – Lee sustained a perforated eardrum at TNA Sacrifice but has been cleared to compete. This type of injury is similar to what Swerve Strickland is currently working through in AEW.

Mike Santana – Santana suffered a left-hand injury at TNA Sacrifice but has been medically cleared to continue wrestling.

Alisha Edwards – Edwards passed concussion protocol following a scare at TNA Sacrifice and has been medically cleared to return to action.

Zilla Fatu – The real-life member of the Bloodline family sustained an undisclosed injury over the weekend of March 16, 2025. Limitless Wrestling announced on Monday that Fatu has been removed from his scheduled match against Anthony Greene at the Bissell Brothers Bash in Portland, Maine on March 21, 2025.

    On the Verge of Returning

    WWE

Ilja Dragunov (Raw) – The intense competitor has been sidelined with an ACL injury since September 2024. Recent reports indicate he\’s been cleared and is awaiting creative plans, with a return expected imminently.

Tyler Bate (Raw) – The former NXT UK Champion tore his left pectoral in July 2024. After eight months of rehabilitation, sources indicate he\’s close to receiving medical clearance and could return to television by April.

Asuka (Raw) – The Empress of Tomorrow has been out with a knee injury since April 2024. Wrestling observers report that creative discussions for her return are underway, suggesting she could be back in action soon with a refreshed character.

    AEW

Kiera Hogan – Sidelined with a shoulder injury since June 2024, Hogan is reportedly set to return imminently, with creative plans already in place for her comeback.

    Long-Term Injuries (Out Indefinitely)

    WWE

Big E (Unassigned) – The former WWE Champion suffered a broken neck on March 11, 2022, when a botched overhead belly-to-belly suplex resulted in him landing on his head. While he\’s regained much of his normal function, there remains no timeline for his in-ring return, and he continues to focus on his recovery and non-wrestling projects.

Robert Roode (Raw) – Roode has been out with a neck injury since June 2022. While still technically on the roster, he\’s been working as a backstage producer, and his in-ring future remains questionable.

    AEW

Eddie Kingston – The American Dragon tore his ACL and meniscus in May 2024. This severe knee injury typically requires 9-12 months of recovery time, putting his potential return around mid-2025 at the earliest.

Juice Robinson – The former Bullet Club member suffered a broken fibula on November 30, 2024, after a freak injury on what was described as a \”basic move.\” Recent reports indicate his return has been delayed, and he\’s expected to be out for several more months.

Wardlow – The powerhouse has been out with a knee injury since January 2024. While initial expectations suggested a shorter recovery time, his absence has extended with no clear return timeline established.

Killswitch (formerly Luchasaurus) – The Christian Cage associate has been absent since September 2024 due to double pneumonia. His respiratory recovery has been slower than expected, and there\’s currently no timeline for his return.

    TNA

Chris Bey – The former X-Division Champion suffered a career-threatening neck injury on October 27, 2024, which initially resulted in paralysis. He underwent surgery and has since regained movement, but remains in recovery with no return timeline. Bey has been documenting his rehabilitation journey on social media, showing remarkable progress but facing a long road ahead.

Joe Doering – The imposing wrestler announced his brain cancer diagnosis in August 2022. While he made a brief return to television, he has remained largely inactive while focusing on his health. No timeline exists for an in-ring return.

    NJPW

Henare – The United Empire member suffered a serious shoulder injury in December 2024. Early reports suggest he could miss the entirety of the 2025 wrestling calendar.

    Retirement News

Homicide – The reigning champion and Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee is set to retire at 47 years old. His retirement match will take place at Outlaw Wrestling in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC on March 20, 2025. Tickets for this historic event are available at OutlawNY.EventBrite.com.

    Impact on Upcoming Events

Several of these injuries have forced creative changes across all promotions. WWE has reshuffled WrestleMania plans to account for the absence of Bronson Reed, while AEW continues to work around the injuries sustained at Revolution.

TNA has been particularly impacted by the recent wave of injuries at Sacrifice, with three performers including world champion Moose and the Hardy brothers unable to compete in upcoming events. This has forced significant changes to scheduled matches and storylines. Additionally, Chris Bey\’s absence continues to disrupt the Motor City Machine Guns tag team dynamics.

NJPW has adjusted its booking for the New Japan Cup tournament due to Henare\’s extended absence, while the independent scene will feel the impact of both Zilla Fatu\’s injury and Homicide\’s upcoming retirement.

The wrestling landscape continues to evolve as these athletes work toward recovery, creating both challenges and opportunities across the industry.

  • Vince McMahon Spotted Courtside at Monday’s Knicks-Heat Game

Vince McMahon was seen courtside at Madison Square Garden on Monday night during the New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat game. The former WWE chairman made a rare public appearance, drawing attention with his bold St. Patrick’s Day-inspired outfit and a noticeably different hairstyle.

McMahon, 79, was dressed in a green plaid jacket and matching green shirt in honor of the holiday. Fans also took note of his latest hair transformation. While his signature mustache—seen at the Super Bowl—was gone, his slicked-back black hair now features prominent silver streaks at the front.

The longtime wrestling executive has largely remained out of the spotlight since stepping away from WWE following the company’s merger with UFC under TKO Group Holdings. His appearance at the high-profile NBA game marks another rare outing since his exit from the business he helped build.

  • Penta Positions Himself as Bron Breakker’s Next Challenger After Raw

Bron Breakker may have found his next Intercontinental Championship challenger. Monday’s episode of Raw set the stage for a potential WrestleMania 41 clash after Penta stepped up following Breakker’s successful title defense against Finn Bálor.

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/03/\"https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/03/\"

The main event saw Breakker retain after Dominik Mysterio’s interference backfired, causing Bálor to lose balance on the top rope. Breakker capitalized with a Frankensteiner and a spear to secure the win.

Post-match, The Judgment Day attacked Breakker, but Penta rushed in to make the save. After taking out Dominik and Carlito, Penta and Breakker shared a tense staredown as the show went off the air.

Earlier in the night, Penta defeated Ludwig Kaiser in a brutal No DQ match. Following his victory, he made his intentions clear—his next goal is the Intercontinental Championship. WWE has yet to confirm the match, and it remains uncertain if it will be a singles bout.

If the match is made official, it will be the first WrestleMania appearance for both Breakker and Penta. Since joining WWE in January, Penta has yet to be pinned or submitted. Meanwhile, Breakker, a two-time Intercontinental Champion, has held the title since October 2024.

  • After Raw: Cody Rhodes Challenges John Cena’s Old Persona, Keeps Winning Streak Alive

Cody Rhodes didn’t have the most eventful night on WWE RAW, but he made sure his message to John Cena was unmistakable. Addressing Cena, Rhodes made it clear he wanted to face the version of him that once defined WWE—not the weary and broken competitor he sees now. The Brussels crowd stood firmly behind Rhodes, delivering one of the most lopsided reactions in recent memory.

After RAW went off the air, Rhodes returned to the ring for a post-show dark match against Dominik Mysterio. The result was no surprise—Cody secured his 18th consecutive victory over Mysterio, continuing his dominance over The Judgment Day’s troublemaker.

Following the match, Rhodes engaged with the Belgian audience, emphasizing that their demand could influence WWE’s future live events in the region. “It’s all on you,” he told the crowd, hinting that fan enthusiasm plays a key role in event scheduling.

Meanwhile, Dominik had his own issues on RAW. He once again pushed for Penta to join The Judgment Day, but Finn Bálor quickly dismissed the idea.

  • WWE Raw Results and Takeaways (March 17, 2025)

WWE Raw emanated from the Forest National in Brussels, Belgium on March 17, 2025, delivering an action-packed show on the road to WrestleMania 41. Here are the key takeaways from today\’s episode:

    John Cena\’s Magnetic Heel Turn

The show opened with John Cena making his first appearance since his shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber. Despite turning heel, Cena maintained his traditional look and music, receiving nuclear heat from the Brussels crowd with chants of \”John Cena sucks\” and even some uncensored \”F*** you Cena\” chants.

Cena portrayed himself as the victim of an \”abusive relationship\” with fans for 25 years, claiming they made it easy for him to turn his back on them. His promo was met with intense hostility from the European crowd, creating an electric atmosphere reminiscent of ECW One Night Stand 2005.

Cody Rhodes eventually confronted Cena, reminding him that while fans gave him their worst, they also gave him their best. Rhodes demanded to be addressed as the \”Undisputed WWE Champion\” and declared that at WrestleMania 41, he wanted to fight the legend, not \”this whiny b*tch\”.

    Championship Matches and Developments

Intercontinental Championship: Bron Breakker successfully defended his title against Finn Balor in the main event. Balor nearly had the match won until Dominik Mysterio accidentally knocked him from the top rope, allowing Breakker to hit a spear for the victory. Post-match, Penta confronted Breakker, setting up a potential future title match.

Women\’s World Championship: A contract signing between champion IYO SKY and Bianca Belair descended into chaos when Rhea Ripley made a surprise appearance. Ripley head-butted Belair and powerbombed SKY onto Belair through a table (which didn\’t break), then signed the contract herself before leaving.

    Notable Matches and Segments

    • Penta def. Ludwig Kaiser in a brutal No Holds Barred match that featured a Death Valley Driver onto the announcer\’s desk and a devastating Back Drop. Post-match, Penta declared his intention to pursue the Intercontinental Championship.
    • Dakota Kai def. Ivy Nile after the LWO (Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee) distracted American Made, chasing Chad Gable through the crowd.
    • Jey Uso squashed Austin Theory in seconds, followed by a confrontation with World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. After escaping GUNTHER\’s rear-naked choke, Jey momentarily seized the champion\’s title before tossing it back to him.
    • Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee def. The Creed Brothers. Post-match, a masked luchador (implied to be Chad Gable) attacked the LWO with a series of lucha maneuvers.
    • Seth Rollins delivered a promo announcing that he would be heading to SmackDown this Friday in Bologna, Italy, where both CM Punk and Roman Reigns are scheduled to appear.

The European crowd was electric throughout the show, creating a special atmosphere as WWE continues its build toward WrestleMania 41.

  • Joe Hendry Teases WWE Return As Jey Uso Needs a Partner in Glasgow

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry is known for making surprise appearances whenever fans call his name, and his latest social media post has fueled speculation about a potential WWE Raw appearance next week.

During the March 17 episode of WWE Raw, Jey Uso quickly defeated Austin Theory before taking out both Theory and Grayson Waller. Later, an irate Waller challenged Uso to find a mystery partner to face him and Theory on the March 24 edition of Raw in Glasgow, Scotland.

Following the challenge, Hendry posted his signature \”Say His Name and He Appears\” GIF on Twitter, strongly hinting at a possible involvement in the match. Waller responded with a GIF expressing \”cringe,\” adding more intrigue to the situation.

Interestingly, Hendry is already scheduled to be in Glasgow on March 24 for a concert after Raw, leading many fans to believe he could be Jey Uso’s surprise tag team partner.

If Hendry does appear, it would mark one of the biggest TNA-WWE crossovers in recent memory. His surprise entry in the Royal Rumble already created buzz, and another WWE appearance would further cement his growing mainstream presence.

  • Seth Rollins to Confront Roman Reigns and \’Luckiest Loser\’ CM Punk on SmackDown

The March 17 episode of WWE RAW took place at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium, offering fans a dynamic show as it aired live on Netflix earlier than usual. One of the night’s standout moments featured Seth Rollins, who received a thunderous reception from the Brussels crowd.

As Rollins entered the ring, fans sang his theme song for an extended period. While initially eager to get down to business, he encouraged them to continue, embracing the moment. However, his mood shifted when chants for CM Punk erupted.

Addressing Roman Reigns first, Rollins acknowledged last week\’s attack but wasn’t upset, admitting he would have done the same in Reigns’ position. His frustration stemmed from Reigns’ continued lack of a solid game plan. Turning his attention to CM Punk, Rollins called him “the luckiest loser on the face of the planet” for nearly winning their recent cage match.

Rollins then made a major announcement—both Roman Reigns and CM Punk will be on SmackDown this week, and he plans to be there as well. Closing the segment as a clear fan favorite, he thanked the Brussels audience and exited the ring to another round of singing, solidifying his connection with the crowd.

  • Ludwig Kaiser Gets Hero’s Welcome on WWE’s European Tour

Ludwig Kaiser portrays a villain on WWE Raw, but European audiences—particularly in Germany—see him differently. During WWE\’s recent European tour, Kaiser has reportedly received hometown hero treatment at live events.

Kaiser, who performs as part of the Imperium faction alongside Giovanni Vinci, has deep connections to European wrestling. Before joining WWE, he competed as Marcel Barthel throughout Germany and other European territories, establishing himself as a technical wrestling specialist. His father, Axel Dieter, is a legendary figure in German wrestling, strengthening Kaiser\’s bond with European fans.

Despite being positioned as an antagonist on television, Kaiser and Imperium have gained appreciation from European audiences who connect with their wrestling style and presentation. While Kaiser remains a heel on Raw programming, his reception overseas demonstrates his growing global appeal.

WWE has history leveraging regional popularity, as seen with performers like Bret Hart, who received contrasting reactions in different markets during his career. The company could potentially utilize Kaiser\’s European popularity in similar fashion.

During European shows, Kaiser reportedly showcases more of his technical abilities rather than relying solely on villain tactics. This allows fans to appreciate the wrestling skills that sometimes get overshadowed in his role as Gunther\’s lieutenant on television.

While there\’s no indication WWE plans to change Kaiser\’s villainous character on television, his overseas popularity highlights the interesting dynamic between performer presentation and regional audience preferences.

  • Cody Rhodes, John Cena, & CM Punk Set for WWE Raw in Glasgow

WWE has confirmed a star-studded lineup for Monday Night Raw in Glasgow, Scotland, as part of the company’s European tour. The episode, airing live on Netflix from the OVO Hydro, will have a special start time of 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and his WrestleMania 41 challenger John Cena will both be in attendance after their heated confrontation on Raw this week. This will mark Cena’s second appearance since his shocking heel turn. CM Punk is also set to appear on the show.

    Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match Set

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/03/\"https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/03/\"

The Women’s Intercontinental Championship will be on the line as Lyra Valkyria defends against Raquel Rodriguez. Rodriguez secured the title shot by defeating Bayley in a number one contender’s match and has the opportunity to become a double champion, as she and Liv Morgan currently hold the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.

Valkyria, who became the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion in January, has successfully defended her title against Dakota Kai and Ivy Nile.

Jey Uso’s Mystery Partner & More

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/03/\"Glasgow
Who will Jey Uso select as his Mystery Partner against A-Town Down Under?

Jey Uso is set for tag team action but will need to find a mystery partner to face Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, collectively known as A-Town Down Under. WWE has yet to reveal who will team with Uso, adding intrigue to the matchup.

With major names like Rhodes, Cena, and Punk, a championship match, and an ongoing mystery surrounding Uso’s partner, WWE Raw in Glasgow is shaping up to be a must-see event.

WWE\’s Ongoing Road to WrestleMania 41 European Tour

WWE is currently in the midst of a historic European tour that spans March 2025, bringing the Road to WrestleMania across the continent. The tour includes multiple TV tapings and live events across nine countries and 11 cities.

The European schedule includes additional Raw episodes on March 24 from Glasgow, Scotland and March 31 from London, England. SmackDown shows are being held in Bologna, Italy on March 21 and London, England on March 28.

This marks the first time in WWE history that Raw and SmackDown episodes will take place in Europe for three consecutive weeks, demonstrating the company\’s commitment to global expansion and recognition of the passionate European fanbase.

  • Rhea Ripley Forces Her Way Into WrestleMania 41 Women’s Title Match

The Women’s World Championship match at WrestleMania 41 appears to have taken a major turn following a chaotic contract signing on WWE Raw in Brussels, Belgium.

The segment originally featured IYO SKY and Bianca Belair finalizing their title bout, which Belair earned by winning the Elimination Chamber on March 1.

SKY, who captured the championship from Rhea Ripley on the March 3 edition of Raw, signed the contract without issue. However, things escalated quickly when Ripley made a surprise appearance.

After laying out both SKY and Belair—powerbombing the champion onto her challenger—Ripley added her own signature to the contract. While Michael Cole questioned whether this officially altered the match, all signs point to a triple threat showdown at WrestleMania 41.

  • WWE Slashes WrestleMania 41 \’Real American Suite\’ Package Price

WWE has announced a significant price reduction for its \”Real American Suite\” package at WrestleMania 41. Originally priced at $9,500 per person, the package is now available for $6,950, reflecting a nearly 30% decrease.
