  • Naito & BUSHI Bid Farewell to NJPW at Wrestling Dontaku 2025

Los Ingobernables de Japón (LIJ) founding members Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI wrestled their final New Japan Pro-Wrestling match on May 4, 2025, concluding the second night of Wrestling Dontaku at Fukuoka\’s sold-out Convention Center. NJPW had previously announced in mid-April that both wrestlers would become free agents on May 4, and their departures became official when the final bell rang—with no retirement speeches, just a raised fist and a wave goodbye to the fans.

    A Final LIJ Showcase

Naito and BUSHI joined stablemates Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi to face Tomohiro Ishii, Taichi, TAKA Michinoku, and Shota Umino in an eight-man tag team match. After ten action-packed minutes featuring one last Destino and BUSHI\’s signature tope suicida, Takagi secured the victory for LIJ by pinning Michinoku with the Burning Dragon. The quartet performed their iconic fist pose, Naito playfully ruffled the referee\’s hair one final time, and the group walked up the aisle to \”Stardust\” while fans chanted \”¡Gracias!\”—though neither departing star chose to address the crowd.

Post-Match Reunion & Uncertain LIJ Future

Later in the event, the entire LIJ roster—including IWGP Global Champion Yota Tsuji—gathered on the entrance stage for a symbolic group photo. Tsuji acknowledged he was \”unsure what happens next\” for LIJ but promised they would \”always be ingobernable.\” This moment highlighted both the conclusion of an era and the stable\’s resolve to continue without its founder and junior heavyweight stalwart.

    Why They\’re Leaving

NJPW released separate statements on April 16 indicating that negotiations with Naito had \”mutually stalled\” and that BUSHI had specifically requested his release despite being advertised for the upcoming Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

Behind the scenes, reports suggest Naito sought compensation that reflected his drawing power, while NJPW was unwilling to meet those terms. BUSHI, who made his NJPW debut in 2012, thanked the promotion for allowing him to terminate the remainder of his contract \”on good terms.\”

    Where Could Naito Land?

Industry insiders are already speculating about Naito\’s next destination. Fightful Select reports that Pro Wrestling NOAH is the early frontrunner, with sources believing the 42-year-old would appreciate the creative freedom and reduced touring schedule there. All Elite Wrestling is considered a possibility for guest appearances rather than a full-time commitment, and there\’s no indication that Naito—who famously declined a WWE offer in 2018—has reconsidered his stance on joining the Stamford-based promotion. Any potential NJPW return, according to sources, will \”come down to money.\”

BUSHI\’s future remains less certain. While free to negotiate with any promotion, Japanese media have connected the 41-year-old to GLEAT and Dragongate, companies whose junior heavyweight divisions value experienced high-flyers with established name recognition.

    What NJPW Loses—and Retains

Naito exits as a three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, 2020 G1 Climax winner, and the face of NJPW\’s modern resurgence with its Latin-inspired aesthetic. BUSHI departs as a three-time IWGP Junior Tag Team Champion and former NEVER Openweight Six-Man Champion whose distinctive masks and mist attacks became merchandise staples. NJPW maintains Shingo, Hiromu, and Tsuji—sufficient star power to sustain LIJ, though the faction will appear markedly different when Best of the Super Juniors begins on May 10.

    \”Tranquilo… For Now\”

True to their philosophy, Naito and BUSHI departed without fanfare, confident that actions—and free agency bidding wars—will communicate more effectively than words. Wherever El Ingobernable and his masked companion appear next, their final walk up the Dontaku ramp felt less like a permanent goodbye and more like a strategic pause. Fans, promotions, and the remaining LIJ members now await to see where the fist bumps—and the contracts—ultimately land.

  • Raquel Rodriguez on Pursuing Singles Championships, Her Latin Heritage

WWE Superstar Raquel Rodriguez, currently one-half of the Women\’s Tag Team Champions, recently appeared on the Battlegrounds Podcast to promote tonight\’s WWE Raw event in Omaha, Nebraska. During the interview, Rodriguez discussed her historic championship reign and the importance of her cultural identity.

    Historic Championship Reign

Rodriguez and her partner Liv Morgan made history by becoming four-time WWE Women\’s Tag Team Champions the night after WrestleMania 41, cementing their status as the most decorated women\’s tag team in company history.

\”It feels so good because it just affirms everything that Liv and myself have been saying this entire time that we are the greatest women\’s tag team champions of all time,\” Rodriguez said.

\”We made history by becoming the first ever three-time tag team champions and then having that little upset at WrestleMania, but getting them right back the night after and becoming the history making, record-breaking four-time women\’s tag team champions.\”

    Embracing Cultural Identity

The champion spoke passionately about her Mexican-American heritage and how it influences her wrestling persona. Born in South Texas near the Mexican border, Rodriguez made a conscious decision to maintain her Hispanic surname to represent her cultural roots.

\”It was a big decision for me when I was coming into the business that I wanted to try and keep my legal last name or a last name of Hispanic heritage because I want people to know that that\’s where I come from and that that\’s who I am,\” she explained.

\”We spoke Spanish. A lot of my co-fellow students in high school would cross the border every day to come to school.\”

Rodriguez highlighted how she uses the term \”chingona\” as a form of empowerment, particularly for Latina women.

\”Chingona means badass. And that\’s how we use it. I find it an affirmation. I feel like it fires me up,\” she said. \”I love using that for people as a word of empowerment because women, especially Latinas, we should use that as empowerment. And we can be beautiful and we can be strong.\”

    Excitement for WWE-AAA Partnership

The superstar also expressed excitement about WWE\’s recent partnership with AAA, Mexico\’s premier wrestling promotion. As someone who grew up watching both WWE and AAA, Rodriguez sees tremendous potential in this collaboration.

\”It gets me so excited. Honestly, it made my heart just like explode with happiness,\” Rodriguez enthused.

\”I grew up watching Triple A, too. I think it\’s a beautiful style of wrestling and just the intense passion that they bring and the crazy moves and just the creativity from the masks to the moves. It\’s just so cool.\”

    Future Plans for the Champions

While her partner Liv Morgan will soon be busy working on a big movie project, Rodriguez remained tight-lipped about the details, telling fans they would need to tune in to find out more. Despite this potential side project for Morgan, Rodriguez emphasized that their partnership remains rock solid, with both superstars focused on being fighting champions while still pursuing individual accolades.

\”We both definitely want to conquer everything and anything that we can while we\’re pretty much doing the best work that we have done together overall,\” Rodriguez said, adding that she has her sights set on singles gold in the future, including potentially challenging for the Intercontinental Championship.

Fans attending tonight\’s Raw in Omaha can expect to see the champions in action, with Rodriguez encouraging the crowd to chant \”Rack them up, Raquel\” when she makes her entrance.

  • Former WWE Star Celebrates 500 Days of Sobriety

Professional wrestler Karl Anderson, formerly of the tag team \”The Good Brothers,\” recently announced a significant personal milestone of over 500 days of sobriety.

During an episode of the \”Talk N Shop\” podcast, Anderson shared his sobriety journey with listeners while raising a toast—notably not with alcohol.

\”The Machine Gun is like 500-something days stone-cold sober. I feel great. Next level, not drinking beer,\” Anderson remarked. He enthusiastically described the positive impact on his health and wrestling performance, noting that despite previously wrestling while hungover, he now feels rejuvenated: \”I feel like I\’m 22 again.\”

Anderson is currently recovering from shoulder injuries, including a torn rotator cuff and partially torn labrum. Following surgery in November, he faces an expected recovery period of six to nine months.

Anderson and his tag team partner Luke Gallows were released from WWE in February. They plan to discuss their departure and future plans on May 8th.

  • Dr. Colker Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Janel Grant\’s Attorney in McMahon Case

Dr. Carlon M. Colker and Peak Wellness Inc. have filed a defamation lawsuit against attorney Ann Callis and the Holland Law Firm, according to information obtained by PWInsider. The suit, filed May 2nd in Connecticut federal court, stems from allegations made in connection with Janel Grant\’s lawsuit against former WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

The 41-page complaint alleges Callis made false statements linking Colker to unethical medical practices in press releases and a YouTube conference. Colker\’s team claims Callis ignored medical records contradicting her claims, which she allegedly shared with media outlets, causing reputational damage.

According to the lawsuit, Grant was seen approximately 60 times and \”actively participated in her treatment decisions\” with full explanations provided. The filing explicitly denies Grant was ever forced to undergo intravenous infusions, administered unknown substances, given unlabeled drugs, or personally injected by Dr. Colker. It states Grant ended treatment in April 2022 without expressing any concerns.

The lawsuit includes shipping manifests showing medical records were delivered to Grant\’s legal team despite public claims they were withheld. Colker seeks compensatory and punitive damages, claiming Callis acted maliciously by spreading falsehoods. Holland Law is accused of failing to properly supervise Callis.

  • Earthquake\’s Daughter Joanna Tenta Sowards Training To Become A Pro Wrestler

Joanna Tenta Sowards, daughter of the late WWE Hall of Famer Earthquake (John Tenta), says she\’s training to become a professional wrestler. During an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson show, she explained the journey of following in her father\’s footsteps.

When I was younger, I used to love watching wrestling. When I was 15, I told my dad that I wanted to do what he did. I wanted to become a professional wrestler. After he died, I stopped watching wrestling for almost 17 years. I tuned back in during WrestleMania 39 and remembered why I loved wrestling so much. In June 2024, I decided that, even though I was older now, I wanted to learn and train to be a pro wrestler for the joy of it, so I\’ve learned so much about how to trust in my body, to believe in myself to work hard, but most importantly and what I sought after is that is has formed a new and special connection with my dad,\” Joanna told Kelly Clarkson on the Kelly Clarkson Show.

Her Instagram page says she\’s training at Absolute Intense Wrestling.

John Tenta, better known to some wrestling fans as Earthquake in WWE, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2025 as part of the Natural Disasters with Typhoon (Fred Ottman). Sadly, Tenta passed away on June 7, 2006 of bladder cancer.

  • Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade Speak Out Against WWE Training Claims Following Their Release

WWE recently let go of several wrestlers, including Gigi Dolin, which surprised many fans. Since then, reports claimed the NXT cuts happened because the talent weren’t training hard enough, but Dolin has firmly denied these claims.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, many of the NXT wrestlers who were released were perceived as not working hard during their training. He stated that WWE sometimes labels these wrestlers as “lazy” and has no problem releasing talent they feel aren’t putting in enough effort. With so many hardworking wrestlers around, those who don’t stand out or aren’t seen as dedicated are more likely to be let go.

“Many of those cut were perceived as not working hard in training. And if you don’t work hard in training, there’s so many people who do. And at this point, if the feeling is you’re not working hard in training – I saw the term ‘lazy’ – the ones who are lazy are gonna be gone, and the ones who didn’t stand out are gonna be gone.”

Gigi Dolin took to Twitter and commented on the report, stating that when she wasn’t traveling for work, she trained hard 3–4 times a week, taking bumps and doing cardio drills with a tough coach.

Dolin also worked out daily and wrestled at live events regularly. She said her body feels the impact of all that hard work, and she doesn’t want to hear claims that she didn’t train enough.

“When I wasn’t traveling to work for either of the two companies I was working for, I trained very hard 3-4 days a week, bumping my ass off and doing cardio drills with one of the best/toughest coaches I’ve worked with. And worked out every single day. With live events every other weekend. So yeah I don’t wanna hear this lol. The way my body feels says otherwise.”

Former WWE star Cora Jade, who was also among those released, has added her voice to the conversation. Jade, now going by Eleyna Black, responded with even more concerning details about the training environment: “This, plus can’t forget having to go to my own gym outside of work after ‘strength and conditioning’ that wasn’t doing anything for me other than get me body shamed by my bosses, coworkers, and fans :) crazy!”

Jade’s comments suggest that not only were the wrestlers putting in considerable effort, but they were also dealing with a toxic environment that included body shaming from multiple sources within the company.

Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade were among many WWE superstars who were released recently, as the latest round of cuts included stars such as Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Eddy Thorpe, Katana Chance, Kayden Carter and more.

Both Dolin and Jade have made it clear that fans should know they put in significant effort every day, despite what reports claim. Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see what’s next in store for these talents as fans are looking forward to seeing their future in wrestling.

  • Keanu Carver Deletes Account After Racist Tweets Following WWE Releases

Following WWE’s release of over fifteen talents yesterday, including Dakota Kai, Cora Jade, Braun Strowman and others, roster member Keanu Carver expressed his discontent through several controversial social media posts before ultimately deleting his account. Screenshots of his comments remain accessible when searching his name on the platform.

Carver appeared particularly upset about one specific talent’s release, referring to them as a “real one.” In a subsequent post, Carver made comments that appeared to reference racial tensions and political views among certain wrestlers.

“These mfs ain ready for ts dickriding these Samoan mfs who think they like that who be voting for Trump n ain really like that.”

Carver’s Twitter account has since been deleted.

  • CM Punk Confirms He\’s Not Ready for WWE Return

CM Punk has confirmed he won\’t be returning for the upcoming May 5th episode of Monday Night Raw in Omaha, telling fans he needs more recovery time following the fallout of WrestleMania 41.

During an Instagram Live stream on Saturday, when asked about appearing on the May 5th Raw, Punk directly addressed his absence stating, \”Brother, I had one week off—I need more.\” This confirmation comes after fans have been eager to see the \”Second City Saint\” return to television.

Punk\’s last WWE appearance was on the April 21st edition of Monday Night Raw, where he and Roman Reigns were attacked by Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, and Bron Breakker.

The assault follows Heyman\’s betrayal of Punk at WrestleMania 41, which set up what appears to be a long-term storyline between these parties.

With Punk extending his time away from WWE programming, fans will need to be patient about when he\’ll return to continue his feud with Heyman\’s faction. The timeline for his comeback remains uncertain, but the storyline clearly has significant unfinished business to address when he does return.

  • Cora Jade Calls Out Inappropriate Fan Messages Following WWE Release

Former WWE star Cora Jade recently addressed inappropriate messages from fans following her unexpected release from the company.

After sharing her email address on social media for professional inquiries, Jade found herself having to clarify her intentions when followers misused the contact information.

\”Didn\’t think I had to clarify but this is for BOOKINGS AND INQUIRIES ONLY you weird ass insensitive f***,\” Jade wrote on her social media account, clearly frustrated by the nature of messages she was receiving.

The young wrestler, who famously dropped out of high school at 15 to pursue her wrestling dreams, had previously released a reflective statement about her WWE journey, expressing both gratitude for the opportunities and disappointment about how things ended. Despite these mixed feelings, she remains optimistic about her future.

    The Return of Eleyna Black

In her departure statement, Jade announced she would be returning to her pre-WWE persona, Elayna Black, telling fans: \”Elayna Black is back from the dead bitches! See you in 30,\” suggesting she\’s preparing for a comeback after her contractual waiting period ends.

This situation highlights the challenges wrestlers face when transitioning between promotions while managing fan interactions in the digital age.

Former WWE NXT star Dani Palmer is reportedly ending her wrestling career following her recent release from the company. Palmer announced her departure on May 3 via Instagram, stating that she is \”officially closing out [her] athletic career.\”

Her announcement came amid a wave of talent cuts at WWE, with 17 performers across the main roster and NXT being released since May 2.

Palmer, whose real name is Alexsis Amrhein, joined WWE in 2022 with an impressive background in acrobatics and tumbling, where she was a three-time NCAA National Champion. Her WWE career was hampered by injuries, including double hip surgery in 2024. She primarily competed on NXT Level Up and made appearances on WWE Evolve before her release.

According to reports, industry sources believe Palmer will not continue in professional wrestling following her WWE exit.

  • AJ Styles X Account Hacked via SIM Swap, Blames AT&T Security Breach

WWE Superstar AJ Styles has publicly addressed the recent unauthorized activity on his X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that his account was compromised through a SIM swap attack.

In a video shared on Instagram, Styles explained that he lost access to his account after his phone’s SIM card was stolen, allowing the hacker to bypass two-factor authentication.

He discovered the unauthorized posts via his wife’s phone, as he was unable to access his own account. Styles indicated that the breach may have involved unauthorized access through his mobile carrier, AT&T.

The incident came to light when users noticed that Styles’ X account began posting racist content. Shortly thereafter, the hacker identified themselves through the account. The offensive posts have since been removed, and Styles is actively working to regain control of his account.

This event highlights the risks associated with SIM swap scams, where attackers manipulate mobile carriers to gain control of a victim’s phone number, thereby accessing accounts secured with two-factor authentication.

  • Dakota Kai Breaks Silence Following WWE Release

Former WWE Superstar Dakota Kai has released a statement on social media expressing her gratitude and optimism following her reported departure from the company.

Former WWE Superstar Cora Jade, whose real name is Elayna Black, has broken her silence on social media with a heartfelt message addressing her departure from WWE and hinting at what’s next.

In the statement, she reflects on her journey, saying:

“Dropping out of high school at 15 to chase my dreams was scary but I’m so thankful it worked out for the time that it did! I got to live out so many childhood dreams, go so many places, do so many things and most importantly I met some of the most important people in my life that I know I’ll have in my corner forever.

Unfortunately it didn’t go how I envisioned and I’m disappointed by a lot of things but I can look back with no regrets and know I did everything with love and passion and always stood up for myself, even in the times I was scared. I’m proud of myself for that.

With all that being said, TRUST that this is not the end and only my new beginning. I have a lot to say when the time is right. I have so many ideas and am excited for the future and to be able to show what I truly am capable of. Elayna Black is back from the dead bitches! See you in 30.”

The message signals the return of her pre-WWE persona, Elayna Black, and suggests she is preparing for a comeback in the wrestling world (or beyond). Fans can expect more updates soon as she gears up for the next chapter of her career.

Oro Mensah has been released from WWE. The Swiss-Nigerian performer was among over a dozen WWE talents let go during Friday night’s roster cuts.

Mensah took to social media following his release, expressing gratitude for his time with the company.

“15 years hard work and true sacrifice to make it to WWE. Always gave it my 110% and put my whole passion and body into the artform of pro-wrestling. Thank you for all the support! love y’all” he tweeted.

Mensah, born Oliver Sauter in 1995, joined WWE in 2019, initially performing as Oliver Carter on the NXT UK brand where he became a one-time NXT UK Tag Team Champion with Ashton Smith. He later transitioned to NXT in 2022 under the Oro Mensah name and was most recently a member of the Meta-Four stable alongside Noam Dar, Lash Legend, and Jakara Jackson.

Most recently, Mensah had been performing on WWE’s Evolve brand, where he made his debut in February 2025. His departure comes as part of what industry insiders often refer to as WWE’s annual “spring cleaning” talent releases.

  • TNA Institutes New Blood Policy

TNA officials informed the locker room today that going forth, excessive blood and blading will not be permissible by the promotion, according to PWInsider. The edict was made official earlier today during a talent meeting.

In the case of hardway blood or something like a bloody nose or mouth, blood will be allowed and it was noted that it’s understandable that sometimes, blood will be a result of contact in the ring – but purposeful, heavy bloodletting is a thing of the past in the promotion.

The decision was made in order to protect the health of the talents as well as keeping current and potential advertisers and partners in mind.

The last match (for now) that will feature any excessive blood from the promotion will be a Dog Collar Match between TNA International Champion Steve Maclin and Eric Young, which was taped on 5/1.????????????????

  • Karrion Kross Reveals Serious Injury Scare After Match with AJ Styles

Former NXT Champion Karrion Kross recently disclosed a frightening medical emergency that occurred following his March televised match against AJ Styles. In his new documentary, Kross shared details about a ruptured eardrum injury that led to a terrifying situation during treatment.

    Serious Medical Complication

Kross revealed that what began as a routine injury repair turned dangerous when he lost consciousness during the procedure.

\”An hour into repairing my eardrum, I passed out,\” Kross explained in the documentary. \”I lost all my color and broke out into a full body sweat.\”

    Quick Return to Competition

Despite this alarming health scare, Kross demonstrated remarkable resilience by returning to in-ring action just weeks later. He competed against JR Kratos at Josh Barnett\’s Bloodsport XIII shortly after the medical procedure, and subsequently participated in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal during the April 18 SmackDown broadcast.

    Wrestling\’s Physical Toll

This revelation highlights the genuine physical risks professional wrestlers face in their careers. While Kross has maintained his active schedule without apparent limitations, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential consequences that can arise from injuries sustained in the ring.

  • Cora Jade Reverts to Elayna Black Following WWE Release

WWE has released multiple talents from their NXT brand today, Friday, May 2, 2025. Among those released is Cora Jade, who has already begun transitioning back to her pre-WWE identity.

    Cora Jade Confirms Release

Jade first hinted at her release by sharing a photo with fellow wrestlers Bea Priestley (Blair Davenport) and Riley Osborne, captioning it: “Just got a lot of free time in our hands, see you soon”

This was particularly notable as Priestley had previously been released by WWE in February, while Osborne was also among today’s releases.

Jade later made it official with a tweet stating:

“Thankful for all the childhood dreams I got to live out! I have a lot to say in due time. Stay tuned xoxo”

    Return to Pre-WWE Identity

Jade has already changed her social media profile name to Elayna Black, the ring name she used before signing with WWE.

During her WWE tenure, Jade achieved championship success as an NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Roxanne Perez.

Her final WWE match took place at a live event on April 25 against Sol Ruca. Prior to that, she participated in a four-way tag match at the Stand & Deliver pre-show.
