Chris Jericho has spent over 35 years building one of the most diverse careers in entertainment history, and in a new interview with Soundsphere Magazine, the wrestling legend revealed the simple philosophy that has guided him through it all.

\”Instead of looking at ways why it won\’t work, look at ways that you can make it work. That\’s always been my motto. Just make it happen. If you want to do it, you can do it. And don\’t take no for an answer,\” Jericho explained.

The 55-year-old, who has found success as a nine-time world champion in wrestling, the frontman of rock band Fozzy, and an actor with roles in projects like the horror film \”Dark Match\” and CBS\’s \”Tracker,\” emphasized that constant evolution has been key to his staying power.

\”I think reinvention is important at any stage of your career because you want to keep people excited and motivated by what you\’re doing,\” he said. Jericho pointed to The Rolling Stones as inspiration, noting their 2023 album \”Hackney Diamonds\” proved legendary artists can still create compelling new work.

\”If you think about the Stones, their last record that came out a couple years ago was brilliant. It was incredible. And it\’s like, wow, what would be the motivation for the Stones to release a great new record? Well, because you\’re an artist and this is what we do.\”

Jericho also shared his perspective on the concept of failure itself, revealing a mindset that has allowed him to take risks others might shy away from.

\”I think that\’s the best way to do it is just be fearless when you\’re trying things. Because there\’s no such thing as failure. The only failure is when you don\’t try something,\” he stated.

This fearlessness, Jericho explained, comes from having already achieved his childhood dreams of becoming both a professional wrestler and a rock musician. \”When I was able to make both those things happen, now I\’m like fearless. I\’ll try anything.\”

Jericho\’s relentless drive extends to his performance philosophy as well. Whether in a wrestling ring or on a concert stage, connecting with the audience remains paramount.

\”You do learn how to control an audience. It\’s very important because when you show up in the ring or on stage, you want people to react. You want them to have a great time. If you can connect with the crowd, you\’ll always have a gig,\” he explained.

Despite his legendary status as a nine-time world champion and AEW\’s inaugural champion, Jericho revealed he still hustles for acting roles just like anyone else. He recently landed a part on the CBS series \”Tracker,\” but the road to getting cast was anything but easy.

\”To get the part, I had to read for it. Then the casting director has to approve it. Then the director had to approve it. Then the producers have to approve it. Then the network had to approve it. So there\’s four levels of hierarchy to get this role. It is not easy to get parts,\” Jericho admitted.

When asked if his wrestling fame allows him to pick and choose acting opportunities, Jericho was refreshingly honest.

\”I\’m not at the position where I can pick and choose what I want to do. So yeah, there is the grift and the hustling but I don\’t mind. I\’ve done it my whole life. It\’s what I did in wrestling. It\’s what I did in music.\”
