  • Parker Boudreaux Already Making Waves After WWE Release

Former WWE Superstar Harland (Parker Boudreaux) wont have trouble finding work in the wrestling business.

Boudreaux was released from WWE last week after an underwhelming stint in NXT.

The 6\’4\” heavyweight came into the company with a lot of fan fare. During an interview with Bleacher Report last year, Boudreaux said he gets compared to Brock Lesnar frequently. “I probably get that one every day,” he said.

Lesnar’s former advocate, Paul Heyman, also touted his potential.

    Parker Boudreaux is Back

Shortly after his WWE release, Boudreux let it be known that \”Harland\” is gone and he is back using his birth name.

It didn\’t take long for Parker Boudreaux\’s return to get the attention of other promoters.

MLW CEO Court Bauer took notice of Boudreaux\’s tweets and said he\’s a \”beast of an athlete\” that will realize his potential as a \”big player\” one day.

    https://twitter.com/courtbauer/status/1520400607445925888

As a former member of the NXT roster, Boudreaux is likely bound by a 30-day non-compete clause. He would be able to appear for other companies starting in late May.

  • Okada Confirms His Status for Forbidden Door PPV

Kazuchika Okada says the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view wouldn\’t be much of a super-show without him.

The reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion spoke about the upcoming PPV at Sunday\’s press conference following NJPW Dontaku.

Okada says he does not know what the format will be when AEW and NJPW make history on June 26th. It might be AEW stars vs. NJPW stars, it might be talent from both companies teaming up together. What matters is that he\’s a part of it.

\”Well, of course I don’t know what shape that event will take, but the fact that we’re having this combined event at all means I should absolutely be a part of it,\” he said (via NJPW1972.com).

\”There wouldn’t be much point in having a supershow like that if I’m not there.\”

    Kazuchika Okada

Okada feels that New Japan Pro Wrestling will gain new fans from working with AEW, just like some NJPW fans will discover All Elite Wrestling.

    Okada on AEW

Okada joked that he is certainly aware of AEW. He complimented them for having world class talent. However, there is always the opportunity to reach new fans.

There are still many people who have never heard of AEW. He said that cuts both ways, and there are many people who will be seeing him for the first time, as well.

\”Whatever happens, I’m fully confident that those people will be leaving knowing how good I am. No matter who it might be, I think that a lot of people will get fired up, draw on that energy. There’ll be fans counting the days, not sleeping the night before, and that’s great. But anything more specific, I can’t really say at this point.\”

He added that he plans on walking into Chicago as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

  • Former NXT Title Holder Debuts at AEW Dark Tapings (Photos)

Leon Ruff made his debut for All Elite Wrestling at the May 1st AEW Dark tapings from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.

Ruff previously wrestled for WWE, starting in late 2019. He worked primarily as enhancement talent on the main roster until he signed with the company in late 2020.

Ruff joined NXT and feuded with Johnny Gargano. That program saw him win the NXT North American championship, which he held for 25 days.

  • Maria Kenellis-Bennett Discusses the Launch of Women\’s Wrestling Army (Exclusive)

Maria Kenellis-Bennett looks to change the landscape of women\’s wrestling with Women\’s Wrestling Army.

Her new all-women\’s promotion has its first show this Sunday, May 1st from the Fete Music Hall in Providence, RI (tickets).

The veteran performer turned promoter spoke with SEScoops correspondent Ella Jay this week about what makes Women\’s Wrestling Army so unique, the challenges of starting a company, plans to crown the first WWA champion and much more.

Below you\’ll find the complete interview, as well as highlights from the half-hour discussion.

Maria says she was really nervous at first and questioned how the promotion would be received. There are already a lot of great women\’s promotions out there, but she\’s excited to give women\’s wrestlers another place to work and show what they can do.

She\’s been blown away by the reception so far. She\’s received support from legends including Mickie James, Lita, Gail Kim, Christy Hemme and Renee Paquette.

Women\’s wrestling has come a long way, but it\’s still a male-dominated industry, if you look at television time, company executives, employees, camera people, etc.

She doesn\’t consider herself a great wrestler, but she can be a great promoter. She spoke about legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick. He always focused on building a team, not just collecting talent. She shares that philosophy.

What is the most challenging aspect of starting a wrestling promotion?

Maria joked, \”Flights. I hate flights! I hate them. (Laughs) Um, gosh, and luckily, Bobby Cruz has been amazing, he did all the flights. But, just figuring that situation out, because everybody\’s got their own lives, you know, girls are coming in from here and there and everywhere, they\’ve got shows the day before. Taya\’s a champion, but she\’s literally flying from Mexico to do our show on Sunday. So, that\’s tough, the logistics of everything.\”

Aside from coordinating travel logistics, Maria says it\’s been a challenge to narrow down which talent they can work with.

\”Beyond that, it\’s controlling my own urge to have 50 people on the show, and realizing there is a budget and I cannot be like, \’She\’s great and I want her here!\’ so that\’s tough too. Bobby [Cruz] has to temper that a lot with me, of me wanting to get far too many people, and he\’s like no, that\’s not possible, so that\’s really tough for me, and just accepting that it\’s not gonna be perfect, we\’re just going to do our best.\”

    Profit Sharing with Talent

    \"Women\'s

Women\’s Wrestling Army is unique in that it will be sharing profits from shows with talent.

\”I didn\’t want to own this company. I didn\’t want to be a promoter. The only way I felt comfortable doing it was this way.\”

Maria added, \”Essentially, they own the success, they own the failures, they own their own bumps and that to me is the most important thing.\”

She hopes this experiment will become a model that other companies can emulate.

\”I really want this to be an example moving forward, that we can profit share with the talent, we can give them a piece of the pie and it will be successful.\”

After the first show takes place this Sunday, they hope to release it for streaming purchase within a week. If their production team is unable to get the show edited and released by then, they will at least have a teaser video to show people what they have in store.

Aside from the live wrestling event, they\’re also filming documentary footage to give fans an inside look at \”how the sausage is made.\”

    Up for the Challenge

Right now, the focus is on the first even this Sunday. Eventually, they will crown a Women\’s Wrestling Army Champion.

The first WWA show will feature champions from other promotions. Maria has no problem with the talent showing off the belts they\’ve earned elsewhere.

When they do crown the inaugural WWA Champion, her goal is to hold a Tournament of Champions featuring women\’s champions from other promotions.

Building a wrestling company is a tall order, but Maria Kenellis-Bennett is ready for the challenge.

\”Will it be controversial and different? Of course, but I do hard things, that\’s fine.\”

    – Maria Kenellis-Bennet
  • Alexa Bliss \”Just Waiting on the Call\” to Return to WWE

Alexa Bliss is eager to return to WWE. She\’s just \”wain\’ on that call.\”

The new Mrs. Cabrera spoke with \”Street journalist\” Adam Glyn this week and spoke about her recent wedding to Ryan Cabrera, when she expects to return to WWE and how she feels about Vince McMahon.

Bliss got married earlier this month at Kempa Villa in Palm Desert, California. Two weeks later, she\’s still on a \’high\’ and wishes she could relive the day over and over again. She also wishes she could go on multiple honeymoon vacations, \”but no, I gotta’ go back to work.”

Alexa Bliss has been off WWE television for months. As one of the most popular Superstars on the entire roster, there\’s an army of fans wondering when she\’ll be back in action.

According to Bliss, she\’s been ready for over two months.

“Hopefully soon. I’m just waitin’ on the call. Been ready to go since before Saudi Arabia.”

    – Alexa Bliss

Elsewhere during the conversation, Bliss named Trish Stratus as her dream opponent and said she was most starstruck when meeting The Rock.

She told a funny anecdote about her most embarrassing moment in the ring:

“My shorts were on backwards and Mickie James had to tell me in the ring that my shorts were on backwards, and during a commercial break, I had to run back to Gorilla and change them out and run back out.”

She also revealed she still gets nervous around WWE boss Vince McMahon, who she calls amazing, incredible and super-personable. \”But obviously, yah, you should be. He has such an amazing presence. It’s always a little nerve-racking talking to Vince, but he’s great.”

Watch Alexa Bliss discuss her pending return to WWE:

  • Bray Wyatt & JoJo Offerman Got Engaged

Congratulations are in order for former WWE couple Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) and Joseann \”JoJo\” Offerman.

Offerman wrote, \”A million times YES! I love you Windham and I cant wait to marry you (even though it feels like we’re already married. Here’s to forever.\”

SEScoops extends our congratulations to Windham Rotunda and JoJo Offerman!

Windham\’s younger brother, Taylor (Bo Dallas), is gearing up for a return to the ring in the near future:

  • Bo Dallas Returning To Wrestling \”Really, Really Soon\”

Former WWE Superstar Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotunda) is gearing up for a return to the ring.

Rotunda was released by WWE on April 15, 2021. During his 13 years with the company, he was a 3-time FCW Heavyweight Champion, an NXT Champion and a Raw tag team champion (with Curtis Axel).

Over the weekend, Rotunda and his father, Mike Rotunda (\”I.R.S.\”) appeared at the For The Love of Wrestling convention in the UK.

Rotunda was asked about his future in pro wrestling and gave an answer his longtime fans will be thrilled to hear.

\”I\’ll be back in the ring really really soon, I promise.\”

    – Taylor Rotunda

Rotunda said he\’s \”absolutely not\” done with wrestling and never lost his love for the sport. Since his WWE release, he\’s spent the past year diving into a bunch of ventures.

\”Within the next two to three months, you\’ll see me back in the ring, somewhere, very soon, because the love of wrestling has never left me, and I\’ve always known I was coming back to it soon,\” he said.

He was asked about his favorite match. Rotunda named his ladder match against Adrian Neville (AEW star PAC) at NXT Takeover: Arrival back in 2014.

He said PAC is his favorite opponent to work with and he\’s looking forward to the possibility of getting back in the ring with him some time very soon. You can draw your own conclusions about his future based on this remark.

Watch Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotunda) confirm his return to wrestling:

  • Deonna Purrazzo Hyped for \”LONG Awaited\” AEW Debut

Deonna Purrazzo is the next competitor to walk through the \”forbidden door\” onto AEW television.

Purrazzo is currently signed to Impact Wrestling, where she\’s a multi-time Knockouts Champion. She\’s also the reigning Ring of Honor Women\’s World Champion.

Next week, she\’ll make her AEW in-ring debut in a match that has championship implications. The Virtuosa battle AEW star Mercedes Martinez, who holds the Interim ROH Women\’s world title.

The championship unification match will determine which competitor will represent ROH\’s women\’s division moving forward.

Purrazzo reacted to the match announcement by letting fans know that she\’s been eager to grace an AEW ring:

Earlier this month, SEScoops correspondent Ella Jay spoke with Deonna Purrazzo at WrestleCon during WrestleMania 38 weekend in Dallas, Texas:

  • Rapper Accuses John Cena of Stealing His Lines in Diss Track

Rapper Copywrite accuses John Cena of stealing his lines in a new \”diss track\” released earlier this week.

Cena used a rapper gimmick, the Doctor of Thugganomics, in the early days of his WWE career. He was cutting freestyle promos on his opponents and even put out a (pretty solid) rap album in 2005 titled, \”You Can\’t See Me.\”

Copywrite\’s new album, The High Exaulted II, contains a song called, \”Spoiler Alert / Have U Cena?\”

John Cena Diss Track: Audio & Lyrics

The diss track alleges that Cena stole lines from him during some of his pre-match freestyles.

The song includes clips of Cena using phrases that Copywrite claims to have written.

\”Spoiler Alert / Have U Cena?\” contains lyrics such as:

\”Oh shit, so tell me, why John Cena wanna thief my old steez?
I got the news from a fan out the blue, at first I didn\’t think was the truth,
\’til he sent the YouTube link as the proof, now I\’m tryna think what to do\”

\”Mister, get it on your own merit. Bit it, It was so apparent.
So bad with no swag, when he did it I was so embarrassed\”

So, did John Cena steal lyrics from Copywrite?

You can listen to the song below and decide for yourself.

Scott D\’Amore, Executive VP of Impact, had this to say about their departure:

Lee and McKay were released by WWE on April 15, 2021 after six years with the company. They debuted for Impact six months later at Bound for Glory. Shortly after joining Impact, The IInspiration said the company \”feels like home.\”

  • Adam Page Has Covid, Will Miss AEW Dynamite

    https://twitter.com/theAdamPage/status/1519301733679312903

Page wasn\’t advertised for the show. Last week, he had a stare-down with CM Punk, who has been signaling for a title shot.

SEScoops wishes the \”Hangman\” a quick and full recovery.

The growing list of wrestlers who have gone public with their COVID-19 diagnoses over the past few months include Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Goldberg, Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks, Will Ospreay, KENTA, Jake Roberts, Carmela, Nyla Rose and Pat McAfee.

    • The Undisputed Elite vs. Varsity Blonds, Dante Martin, Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson
  • Bruce Prichard\’s Mount Rushmore of Wrestling Promoters

When wrestlers name their Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling, they\’re usually talking about in-ring competitors.

On the latest episode of his Something to Wrestle podcast, WWE Senior Vice President Bruce Prichard names his Mount Rushmore of Wrestling Promoters.

Unsurprisingly, Prichard names his longtime boss, Vince McMahon, as his \”number one.\”

    \"Vince

The other three promoters he named were Paul Boesch, Dusty Rhodes and Vince McMahon Sr. \”I do have to put Boesch on there because Paul was a true promoter,\” said Prichard. \”You have to view it through the eyes of who was a promoter, who was a marketer, who was a booker. Paul was a promoter’s promoter.\”

He continued, \”Vince McMahon Sr. was a promoter. Jim Barnett, Jim was a promoter, and as years went on, Jim Crockett was the guy who owned a business. Jim didn’t promote.\”

\”Dusty Rhodes was a promoter, even though Dusty didn’t have that moniker, that’s what Dusty did. So that would probably be it, the two Vince’s, Paul and Dusty.”

    Mount Rushmore of Wrestling

Here are some past articles about wrestlers naming their Mount Rushmore of Wrestling:

  • Adam Cole Wants Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door PPV

Adam Cole says everyone in AEW is psyched for Forbidden Door, and he already knows who he wants to work with at the show.

During a recent discussion with Stephanie Chase, Cole spoke about the excitement that\’s building for the upcoming inter-promotional super-show.

Both companies have huge stars and passionate fan bases. Forbidden Door is a chance to see the top stars of both companies square off.

Some AEW fans do not watch New Japan Pro Wrestling. Many NJPW fans don\’t watch All Elite Wrestling. This collaboration will expose both companies to new viewers and that\’s a huge win for everybody.

\”Some of my fondest moments years ago were over in New Japan so yeah, I’m very, very excited for this event,\” said Cole. \”I think it’s gonna be awesome.\”

    Cole vs. Okada

    \"AEWxNJPW:

The top stars of AEW and NJPW are making it known who they want to work with at Forbidden Door. Cole has his eye on Kazuchika Okada, the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

\”So I’ve never had a singles match with Okada,\” he said. \”I’ve wrestled Okada before in like a six-man tag team match in Ring of Honor but we barely had any interaction together.\”

Cole is eager to make history with Okada and steal the show at Forbidden Door.

\”I’ve wrestled Tanahashi, just wrestled Ishii, which was really cool. Wrestled Jushin Liger, YOSHI-HASHI.. so many different guys, but I would love a classic one-on-one singles match with Okada at some point. I think that’d be really cool.\”

While no matches have been signed as of this writing, it\’s worth tracking who wrestlers are saying they want to work with. In addition to Cole saying he wants to wrestle Okada, we\’ve also seen:

The AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view takes place Sunday, June 26th from Chicago, IL at the United Center.

  • Taz Undergoing Stem Cell Therapy For His Knee

Taz has undergone his first stem cell treatment to repair his \”banged up\” knee.

He sounds encouraged about how things are going after his first session.

The Human Suplex Machine currently works for AEW as a broadcaster. He\’s also the on-screen leader of Team Taz, the faction comprised of Powerhouse Hobbs, \”Absolute\” Ricky Starks and his son, Hook.

Prior to his transition to the announcer\’s booth, Taz had a legendary in-ring career. An ECW original, the pitbull from Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY was known for his deep arsenal of suplexes and submission holds. He choked out a couple guys, and dumped a couple guys on their heads, back in his day.

Unfortunately, all those years in the ring took a toll on his body. The 54-year-old legend is now undergoing stem cell and PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) therapy to repair the bad knee.

    Wrestlers using Stem Cell Therapy

Several pro wrestlers have resorted to stem cell therapy in recent years, including Rey Mysterio. WWE has released a few promo videos for the Breakout Tournament:

    Breakout Tournament History

As the name implies, the Breakout Tournament features NXT rookies.

The inaugural NXT Breakout Tournament was held in 2019. Jordan Myles won the tournament and later cashed in against then-NXT Champion Adam Cole. He lost.

  • Becky Lynch: WWE\’s Women\’s Division is \”On Another Level\”

Becky Lynch says the women\’s division in WWE is far superior to AEW\’s.

WWE is heading overseas this week for the annual post-WrestleMania European tour. The company is still running shows in the US this weekend, including a \”Saturday Night\’s Main Event\” house show from Lakeland, Florida at the RP Funding Center.

Big Time Becks called in to Drew Garabo Live Featured Cut Of The Day to promote the Lakeland event and had some interesting things to say about the state of AEW\’s women\’s division.

She sees two big issues with the AEW women\’s division:

    1. They don\’t feature women prominently, as WWE does
    2. The women in AEW are not on \”the same level\” as WWE

Frankly, they\’re not as good as we are

Lynch was asked if she feels motivated by having competition from AEW. She wishes that was the case, but she\’s not feeling the heat.

\”I wish I could say \’yes,\’ but, unfortunately, I don\’t think they are represented the way we are, they don\’t get as much time as we get and frankly, they\’re not as good as we are,\” said Lynch (via Fightful).

Lynch went on to say that WWE has the best women\’s division in the world — and it\’s not even close.

\”Competition is great and it\’s great for there to be another place and I have a very good friend, Ruby Soho, over there and I would love to see her as champion one day,\” she said. \”I would love to see her get the spotlight she deserves. Competition is always great. Over here, we\’re on another level.\”

  • Will Ospreay Wants Kenny Omega at AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door

Will Ospreay is making it known that he wants to face Kenny Omega at AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door.

Omega has been out of action since late 2021. He worked through multiple injuries as AEW World Champion. Omega underwent multiple surgeries during his time off, including for his knee and a sports hernia.

Ospreay and Omega have exchanged a lot of trash talk on social media and in interviews. On Tuesday morning, Ospreay tweeted about his upcoming match against Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestling Dontaku (5/1/22). He wrote, \”I will be paying homage to a wrestler that largely impacted my career, to show my appreciation for his contribution & sacrifice.\”

Omega assumed Ospreay was talking about him, and said, \”thanks, I guess.\” Ospreay reacted with an inquiry about Omega\’s health, and whether or not he\’ll be healthy by June.

AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door takes place Sunday, June 26th from Chicago, IL.

No matches have been announced as of this writing, but wrestlers from both companies are already making challenges and dropping hints about who they want to face. Omega vs. Ospreay would be a match worthy of this inter-promotional super-card.

Will Ospreay Ready for AEW\’s Top Stars

A few months ago, Will Ospreay spoke to SEScoops and expressed his desire to work with AEW stars. To put it more bluntly, Ospreay expressed his desire to \”embarrass\” the likes of Kenny Omega, CM Punk and Bryan Danielson.

“If you guys really want it that bad, you know what to do,\” Ospreay told SEScoops. \”You just gotta call my number and I’ll show up. I’ll show up. But 9 times out of 10, these guys don’t want me to show up. Because A, I’ll embarrass them. I’ll embarrass them.”

“Guys like Bryan Danielson made a living being one of the best wrestlers in the world. But if I showed up, he would not last in the ring with me. Kenny Omega was THE guy in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He left. I took over. Nobody could compete with me in 2019. If I got in the ring with him, I’d embarrass him.”

  • Another Olympic Gold Medalist Hopes to Join WWE

Olympic Gold Medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock is waiting for WWE to offer her a contract.

Mensah-Stock made history last year by winning a gold medal in women\’s freestyle wrestling (68kg) at the 2020 Summer Olympic games from Tokyo, Japan.

WWE fans might remember she and Gable Steveson made a surprise in-ring appearance at SummerSlam.

Steveson has since signed a WWE contract and is seen by many as having the potential to be \”the next Kurt Angle.\”

According to Mensah-Stock, she\’s also interested in following in the footsteps of Kurt Angle (and Gable Steveson, for that matter).

Twitter user @TeeExTee asked Mensah-Stock when WWE is going to offer her a contract. She replied and said she\’s been wondering that same thing herself.

WWE has a long history of collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes crossing over to the world of sports entertainment. We\’ll see if Tamyra Mensah-Stock is a future WWE Superstar, but now we know she\’s up for it.

  • Ronda Rousey on Her Inexperience: \”I’m a Smoke and Mirrors Bitch\”

Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 back in 2018. Since then, she\’s held the Raw Women\’s Championship, main-evented a WrestleMania and won this year\’s Women\’s Royal Rumble. Despite these achievements, Rousey says she\’s no veteran and is still learning the ropes.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet was a guest on the latest episode of the Wives of Wrestling podcast. The show stars Kim Orton, Giovanna Angle and is hosted by Jon Alba.

Rousey admitted that she struggles with remembering what she\’s supposed to do during her matches.

\”Remembering it is hard,\” said Rousey. \”I’m not a seasoned veteran or anything. This past Mania, I was like, ‘I don’t have this down at all.’ We’re about to go out there and I’m like, \’Uhh, I don’t know all this match yet.\’\”

    Relying on Others

    \"Ronda

Luckily, Rousey is not in the ring alone. She said she relies on \”cues\” from other people (her opponent, the referee) when she gets lost in a match. She\’s worked with some of WWE\’s premiere talent, who have helped guide her so far.

\”I’m very much dependent on who I’m in there with to make the match itself and guide me when I’m out there,\” she continued. \”I’m a smoke and mirrors bitch. I’ve only had a year and a half of experience and people forget that a lot. I’ll get thrown in these situations where I need to get reps in and need to know what this is.\”

Rousey says she will often turn to her opponents, who have more experience than her, and allow them to guide the matches.

Whether it\’s been Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks or Nia Jax, Rousey is grateful that she\’s been able to lean on some very talented people.

\”It’s really cool learning from every opponent that I have, the different ways they put matches together and the different things they go for and different styles and how I’m able to fit in what their idea is.\”

Rousey is currently the #1 contender to the SmackDown Women\’s Championship. She came up short against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38, but they\’ll run it back in an \”I Quit\” match next month at WrestleMania Backlash.
