  • Tyson Fury Retires from Boxing, Next Stop WWE?

Tyson Fury, the renowned heavyweight boxer famously known as “The Gypsy King,” has officially announced his retirement from professional boxing. In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Fury delivered a concise but emotional farewell message to his fans:

“I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.”

This announcement marks another milestone in a career defined by extraordinary highs and unexpected twists. Fury had previously retired in 2022 following a decisive victory over Dillian Whyte but later returned to the ring to defeat Derek Chisora later that year.

At 36, Fury leaves the sport following two consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. If this retirement is final, Fury concludes his illustrious career with a record of 34 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Among his many accomplishments are multiple heavyweight championships, including the WBC heavyweight title and The Ring magazine’s heavyweight title.

    Tyson Fury’s WWE Journey

Beyond his boxing achievements, Tyson Fury has made a significant impact in professional wrestling through his collaborations with WWE. He debuted with the promotion in October 2019 on an episode of SmackDown, where he confronted Braun Strowman. This encounter culminated in a high-profile match at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia later that month, which Fury won. Since then, his WWE appearances have been sporadic yet memorable.

In 2022, Fury made a surprise appearance at the Clash at the Castle event and went toe-to-toe with none other than Roman Reigns.

Despite ongoing speculation about potential appearances at major WWE events like the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania, logistical challenges—such as legal issues impacting his ability to travel to the United States—have reportedly complicated these plans.

Nonetheless, Fury has expressed strong enthusiasm for future collaborations with WWE, citing his lifelong passion for professional wrestling. As he steps away from boxing, fans are eager to see whether Fury might dedicate more time to WWE, potentially trading his boxing gloves for wrestling boots.

  • Drew McIntyre Eager to Promo Battle John Cena

Drew McIntyre is determined to get the opportunity to work with John Cena.

Cena kicked off his farewell tour at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere. There, he declared for the Royal Rumble match, as he made it clear that he wants to win the world title one last time.

Speaking on the Babyfaces Podcast, McIntyre was asked to comment on John Cena in the Royal Rumble match and targeting the world title. He wished Cena luck, before cutting right to the trash talk.

“All I care about is, I want time on that microphone with him, and I want that one-on-one match, and I’m gonna make it happen one way or another,” McIntyre said.

“Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up in the ring with me in the Rumble because the last person who got in my way in the Rumble last year and was aiming to main event WrestleMania was CM Punk, and I tore his tricep off the bone, so I’ll maybe ask Cena pick the muscle, pick the bone because I’m tearing it or breaking it.”

  • End Zone Pedigree: Quinyon Mitchell’s Triple H Tribute Seals Eagles’ Wild Card Victory

In a pivotal moment during the Eagles’ wild card playoff game against the Packers, rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell clinched the victory with a game-winning interception. To celebrate, Mitchell paid homage to WWE legend Triple H by attempting to perform the iconic Pedigree move on his teammate, Cooper DeJean.

Triple H responded to the moment on social media, congratulating Mitchell and the Eagles on their big win. Since he “didn’t get all of it,” the WWE icon humorously commented on the botched move, noting that there’s a reason WWE advises fans not to try its moves at home.

Both Mitchell and DeJean have been instrumental in the Eagles’ success this season. The two rookie defensive backs quickly moved beyond their rookie status, emerging as key contributors to Philadelphia’s top-ranked pass defense.

Throughout the season, Mitchell and DeJean have developed a strong bond, characterized by friendly competition and mutual support. Their on-field synergy and off-field camaraderie have been evident, making this celebratory moment a fitting highlight of their standout rookie campaigns.

  • Jade Cargill Returns to the WWE Performance Center Amid Injury Rumors

Jade Cargill was spotted at the WWE Performance Center today, according to PWInsider. The powerhouse performer has been working out in the ring, and will return this week, a significant update for fans following conflicting reports about her status.

    • During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp said that Cargill is \”on their [WWE] internal injury list as best I know.\”
    • Mike Johnson now reports that Cargill has been healthy, vacationing internationally and pursuing entertainment ventures outside of WWE.

Her absence from television has been storyline-driven, tied to an injury angle and a “mystery attacker” plot that remains unresolved.

    The Storyline So Far

Cargill was written off WWE programming in dramatic fashion with a staged injury storyline, leaving fans speculating about her future.

The “mystery attacker” storyline continues to be a focal point in Cargill’s absence, keeping fans guessing about who might be behind the assault and what role Cargill will play upon her return.

During her hiatus, Naomi has (temporarily?) replaced her as one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions along with Bianca Belair. This adds a new dynamic to the tag division and the attacker\’s identity.

    Social Media Silence

Despite being active on social media in recent weeks with some bloody photographs (possibly from a project she\’s working on), Cargill has remained tight-lipped about her storyline, her rumored injury, or when fans can expect her back on WWE television. This silence has only fueled further speculation about the direction of her character and the resolution of the mystery angle.

    What’s Next for Jade Cargill?

Cargill’s return to the Performance Center suggests that her comeback may be imminent. Whether she will immediately re-enter the tag division alongside Naomi or pursue revenge against her “mystery attacker” remains to be seen. With her in-ring workouts resuming, fans can anticipate her eventual return to action as the storyline continues to unfold.

  • Triple H Confirms SmackDown Will Return to a 2-Hour Format

WWE SmackDown expanded to a 3-hour format this past Friday (January 3, 2025), but the show will drop the extra hour later this year. Triple H, WWE\’s EVP of Global Talent Strategy & Development, confirmed this transition during a Monday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“Look, there are some parameters that we have to hit, but it’s no different than episodic television shows,\” he began. \”Sometimes there’s an episode that’s 45 minutes, the next week it’s an hour, right? It depends on what you need to put into that show.\”

Triple H provided insight on the production-aspect of show lengths. \”Sometimes when we do three-hour shows there’s a little bit of collapsible stuff in there that’s put in on purpose. It’s a little bit of fat in the show that you can trim off if you need to.\”

When SmackDown will return to two hours

He added that sometimes with a two-hour show, they need to cut things out to keep the show as tight as possible. \”So somewhere between that two and three-hour window, to me, is the sweet spot.\”

\”The Game\” emphasized that while SmackDown is presently a three-hour spectacle, it is slated to return to the two-hour format in the foreseeable future. However, he refrained from specifying an exact date for this change.

“Yes, for right now (it is three hours), and then it switches back to two.”

Triple H confirms WWE SmackDown is returning to a two-hour format in 2025

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics says SmackDown is slated to go back to two hours in June 2025 and credits Wrestlevotes with the scoop.

Meanwhile, WWE Raw, another flagship show from the wrestling giant, is gearing up for its Netflix premiere. The inaugural episode is scheduled to air on Monday, January 6 and the show will have no set run-time each week, a unique perk they\’re afforded on Netflix.

  • Samantha Irvin Eyes Wrestling Manager Role Post-WWE

Samantha Irvin, known for her electrifying voice and vibrant personality, shocked WWE fans a few months ago when she announced her departure from the company. • Triple H Confirms WrestleMania 41 Main Event Is Booked, But Open to Changes

Triple H has hinted that the WrestleMania main event is planned, but it remains subject to change. During an appearance on SI Media with Jimmy Traina, the WWE Chief Content Officer elaborated on the unpredictability of planning such a monumental event:

“Yes, with an asterisk, because I cannot tell you what happens between today and Las Vegas. People get hurt, things happen,” he explained.

Long gone are the days when WWE’s head honchos had WrestleMania’s main event locked in a year ahead of time. In today’s era, “plans change,” and the company has embraced a more flexible approach to adapt when circumstances demand it. While injuries can disrupt meticulously crafted plans, more often, changes stem from fans rallying behind a particular wrestler so passionately that the company is compelled to shift direction.

This exact scenario played out last year when The Rock returned to WWE, and Cody Rhodes made the surprising decision to step aside, allowing The Final Boss to use his Royal Rumble victory to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. However, fans weren’t having it. The hashtag #WeWantCody went viral, and the company ultimately pivoted, giving Cody the opportunity to “Finish the Story”—which he did.

WrestleMania 41 Plans Take Shape for John Cena, Cody Rhodes, and The Rock

    WrestleMania 41 Main Event

Triple H went on to discuss the fluid nature of storytelling and booking in WWE:

“You get a phone call—‘Hey, would you ever consider doing this with me?’—or whatever it is, where you go, ‘Wow, that’s an amazing opportunity.’ Maybe I would go in a different direction, right? Sometimes you start to go down a road of a storyline, and you realize, ‘Like, this is not resonating the way I thought it would.’ Maybe something else would be bigger—and lo and behold, it is.”

Triple H emphasized the importance of planning but acknowledged the need for flexibility:

“I’m a big, put-pins-in-stuff-and-far-out-in-advance guy. We had a card for WrestleMania loosely written out in October, and that’s morphed a lot. We’re sitting down on a regular basis—weekly, probably—and talking about, ‘What do we believe the shift is? Where do we see the shift happening? What do we need to move around?’”

When asked if the current plan for the main event is locked in, he admitted uncertainty:

“Can I say I have something penciled in? Yes. Do I think it will stay? I think, but I’m not [sure].”

Triple H’s comments underline the constantly evolving nature of professional wrestling, where injuries, creative shifts, and unexpected opportunities can alter even the most well-laid plans.

  • 42-Minutes? Triple H Says WWE Raw Runtimes Will Be Flexible

WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H has shed light on the potential format of RAW as it transitions to Netflix. Speaking on the SI Media Pod, Triple H emphasized the flexibility that comes with streaming platforms compared to traditional cable television.

“It’ll be flexible in that I don’t think necessarily the time constraints of network television or cable television apply,” he explained. “If this episode needs to be an hour, great, it’s an hour. [If] this next episode needs to be 42 minutes, it’s 42 minutes.”

While Triple H clarified that there’s no intention of consistently reducing episodes to shorter durations, the goal remains to create content that aligns with Netflix’s business model and offers the best possible experience for viewers. That could mean different run times each week, and the occasional shorter episode.

This flexibility allows WWE to prioritize storytelling without being bound by rigid time slots. It also creates an air of unpredictability around main events, which no longer need to wrap up before the next show is scheduled to go on the air.

WWE Raw premieres on Netflix this Monday live at 8/7c.
