  • New Orleans Is Currently The Frontrunner To Host Next Year’s WWE WrestleMania

According to PWInsider.com, New Orleans has emerged as the frontrunner to host WrestleMania next year, with discussions about the city gaining traction within WWE over the past month. This is the first time the possibility has been spoken of locally in Louisiana. Additionally, it was noted that Indianapolis is still being considered as a potential host city for WrestleMania 43.

In the night’s main event, Daniel Bryan defeated Batista and Randy Orton in a triple-threat match to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion, culminating in an emotional celebration with fans.

At WrestleMania 34, Ronda Rousey made her in-ring debut, teaming with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a highly praised mixed tag team match. In the night’s main event, Brock Lesnar retained the Universal Championship in a brutal clash against Roman Reigns, surprising fans who had anticipated a title change.

  • Charlotte Flair Return Teaser Airs On WWE SmackDown

The anticipation for Charlotte Flair’s WWE return continues to grow, with recent teasers and appearances sparking speculation. During this week’s SmackDown, a promo highlighted Flair’s star power with visuals of private jets and yachts, emphasizing her dominant presence in WWE.

Flair has been absent from WWE since December 2023 after suffering a severe knee injury in a match against Asuka on SmackDown. The injury, which involved a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus, required surgery in January 2024. Since then, Flair has kept fans updated on her recovery journey through social media, sharing training videos and photos.

Flair attended Tuesday\’s WWE NXT and posted a picture alongside NXT Tag Team Champions Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend, captioning it, “Some girls want to be a princess when they grow up, I wanted to be in a bad b**ch girl gang.” The post has fueled speculation that Flair could lead a faction upon her return. A source at the WWE Performance Center who saw Flair training in the ring tell SEScoops she looked great and is ready to wrestle, pending the right scenario to get her back on television.

While WWE has not officially confirmed a return date, her recent activity, combined with the 2025 Royal Rumble just weeks away, suggests Flair’s comeback may coincide with the high-stakes event.

  • WWE Crowns New #1 Contenders On SmackDown

WWE crowned new #1 contenders for the Tag Team Titles on this week’s SmackDown. With this victory, they have secured a future opportunity at the WWE Tag Team Championships, currently held by Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of #DIY.

The Motor City Machine Guns overcame the challenge despite interference attempts by Pretty Deadly\’s Kit Wilson and Elton Prince.

After achieving individual success in NXT, Gargano and Ciampa transitioned to WWE\’s main roster. In 2023, WWE teased a potential reunion of #DIY on Monday Night Raw. When they officially reunited, fans welcomed them back enthusiastically, eager to see the duo reclaim tag team glory.

The Motor City Machine Guns previously held the WWE Tag Team Titles before losing them to #DIY on the December 6th episode of SmackDown. A rematch on the January 3rd episode of SmackDown ended in a no-contest, leaving fans eager for a decisive conclusion.

  • Braun Strowman Returns On WWE SmackDown

Braun Strowman has made his return to WWE television, appearing on Friday’s episode of SmackDown to make a dramatic save.

The segment began with Jacob Fatu delivering an in-ring promo, following Solo Sikoa’s decision not to address his recent loss to Roman Reigns during the Raw on Netflix premiere. As tensions escalated, LA Knight stormed the ring to confront the heels but was quickly overwhelmed by the numbers advantage. Just when the situation seemed dire, Strowman made his return to even the odds and rescue Knight.

WWE incorporated Strowman’s real-life struggles into the storyline, explaining that he had been recovering from a brutal attack by The Bloodline. Strowman had been sidelined at the start of 2025 due to a severe illness.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Strowman revealed that he had been battling a serious health issue, which forced him into recovery at a hotel. The illness took a toll on his health, causing him to lose over 30 pounds in just one week. Before his return, Strowman had not wrestled since late December during a SmackDown live event.

  • Former WWE Star Returned At Live Event

Lince Dorado has officially returned to WWE, a move that had been speculated earlier this week after he stepped down as the Lucha Premier Champion.

On Friday night, Dorado made his return during an NXT house show in Citrus Springs. As of this writing, the terms of his contract remain undisclosed, and there is no confirmed date for his return to televised programming.

Lince Dorado began his wrestling career in 2007, competing in various independent promotions. He gained significant recognition in Chikara, where he emerged as a promising talent. Dorado\’s mainstream breakthrough came in 2016 when he participated in WWE\’s Cruiserweight Classic Tournament. Following the tournament, he signed with WWE and joined the 205 Live roster, quickly becoming a fan favorite as part of the team Lucha House Party alongside Gran Metalik and Kalisto.

After his WWE release in 2021, Dorado returned to the independent wrestling scene. He wrestled internationally, appearing in promotions such as MLW (Major League Wrestling) and others, continuing to build his reputation as a dynamic performer.

He won multiple TNA X-Division Championships and TNA World Tag Team Championships, with his tag team partnership with Frankie Kazarian (as part of Bad Influence) becoming a major highlight.

In 2019, Daniels joined AEW as part of SCU (SoCal Uncensored) alongside Kazarian and Scorpio Sky. Daniels and Kazarian went on to become the first-ever AEW World Tag Team Champions. Beyond his in-ring contributions, Daniels has also played a key role behind the scenes in AEW, working as a talent relations representative and producer.

  • Toni Storm Earns AEW Women’s World Title Shot, Megan Bayne Arrives

Toni Storm is set to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship, currently held by Mariah May, in a highly anticipated matchup. Storm earned her #1 contender spot on this week’s episode of Dynamite, held at Broadbent Arena in Louisville, KY, by winning the Casino Gauntlet Match. The bout featured a strong lineup, including rising star Megan Bayne, but Storm emerged victorious to secure her place at the top.

This storyline adds an intriguing layer, as Storm has reverted to a past gimmick as part of a narrative where she is portrayed as having dementia, with no memory of her prior accomplishments. The history between Storm and May adds further drama, as Storm previously lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to May at All In: London before taking a hiatus.

With her victory, Storm now has the opportunity to reclaim the title at Grand Slam Australia. The event will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, marking a significant milestone in AEW\’s international expansion.

  • Samoa Joe Returns On AEW Dynamite

Samoa Joe made his return to AEW television during Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. After HOOK faced Christian Cage in a hard-fought match, Cage, alongside Nick Wayne, attacked HOOK. Joe, accompanied by Katsuyori Shibata, ran out to make the save, ending the segment with a show of force.

Joe had been absent from AEW programming since July 2023, when he was written off television following a brutal street fight against Chris Jericho on Dynamite. In that match, Jericho, aided by Big Bill and Bryan Keith, used a forklift to drive Joe through a wall, resulting in the bout being stopped. HOOK was notably absent, having been sidelined after a fireball attack from Jericho the week prior. Katsuyori Shibata was also missing from the event. Following the match, Joe was stretchered out and loaded into an ambulance to signify his temporary departure from AEW.

Joe’s hiatus was due to his commitment to filming the second season of Peacock’s hit series Twisted Metal, where he portrays Sweet Tooth, a fan-favorite character from the classic PlayStation franchise. The show, starring Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Tahj Vaughans, Chelle Ramos, and Michael Carollo, became Peacock’s most-binged original in its first week. It ranked among the platform’s top three original series of all time. In December 2023, Peacock announced the renewal of Twisted Metal for a second season.

  • Kenny Omega Wins AEW Return Match, Attacked By Don Callis Family

Kenny Omega made his highly anticipated return to AEW in-ring action on the January 15th episode of Dynamite, following a battle with diverticulitis and subsequent surgery. Omega defeated Brian Cage in the opening match with the One-Winged Angel, despite interference from The Don Callis Family.

The match incorporated storytelling around Omega’s health struggles, with Cage targeting his abdomen to highlight his past issues. After the match, the Don Callis Family jumped Omega, only for Will Ospreay to run down to make the save.

Omega helped Ospreay take out the heels before turning around and locking eyes with both guys, talking trash to each other. AEW International Champ Konosuke Takeshita came out to take out Omega. The numbers got the best of Omega and Ospreay.

This marked Omega’s first AEW match since December 2023, when he defeated Ethan Page on Collision. While recovering from his health setbacks, Omega briefly re-entered the ring on January 5th at Wrestle Dynasty, defeating Gabe Kidd after executing a Kamigoye and the One-Winged Angel.

Omega’s return to AEW programming came earlier at Worlds End, where he presented the Continental Championship to Kazuchika Okada, the winner of the Continental Classic. The moment teased a potential future clash between Omega and Okada, possibly at All In: Texas.

    • WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER vs. Jey Uso
    • Intercontinental champion Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus

Both matches were set up on Monday’s WWE Raw. Sheamus battled Ludwig Kaiser in a hard-hitting contest, with the Celtic Warrior picking up the W. IC champion Bron Breakker was sitting ringside for the match, and the two brutes had a brief scuffle before they were separated by WWE officials.

Later in the show, GUNTHER delivered an in-ring promo, expressing frustration over the lack of focus on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which he referred to as the top prize on Raw. He challenged anyone to step up and prove their worth. Jey Uso answered the call, interrupting GUNTHER and issuing a challenge for the title.

During the confrontation, GUNTHER accepted the challenge, stating he would expose Jey Uso as nothing more than “a really good tag team wrestler.” Uso countered, vowing to prove him wrong at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

  • Sheamus: I\’m Tired Of Asking For WWE To Bring Back My Theme Song

When Sheamus returned to WWE television in April 2024, he surprised fans by reintroducing his original WWE theme song, \”Written in My Face.\” However, the longtime WWE star transitioned to a different entrance theme in July, leaving many fans—along with Sheamus himself—wishing the old song had stayed.

During an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Sheamus addressed the fan-favorite theme song, including the humorous online meme centered around its lyrics, particularly the phrase “too many limes.”

“Maybe 2010. People are very creative on the internet, very creative,” Sheamus said. “I do miss that song, though. A lot of people were upset. I brought it back, but I wasn’t allowed to keep it.”

When asked if the song might make a comeback someday, Sheamus expressed frustration over the decision-making process. “I don’t know. Do you want to ask? You go ask. I’m tired of asking. I’m all out of asking,” he said.

The return of \”Written in My Face\” was a nostalgic moment for fans, making its subsequent removal all the more disappointing. While Sheamus’ current entrance theme has its merits, many continue to hope for the iconic song’s revival.

  • CM Punk Names Steve Austin As One Of His Dream Opponents

CM Punk is widely regarded as one of the biggest names in professional wrestling over the past 15 years, having shared the ring with countless stars. However, for Punk, there’s one opponent who eluded him: Steve Austin.

Punk and Austin appeared on-screen together during the June 13, 2011, episode of WWE Raw. While speaking with Shannon Sharpe and Chad \”Ochocinco\” Johnson on NightCap, Punk revealed that Austin tops his list of dream matches. He also expressed his admiration for Bret \”Hitman\” Hart, citing Hart as a key influence in his career.

“One name always comes to mind, and that’s Stone Cold Steve Austin,” Punk said. “Unfortunately, he had to retire because of injuries, and he had a stroke. Bret Hart is another one. Bret Hart would be a dream for me because that’s a guy I looked up to when I was a kid. That’s a guy that helped get me into this sport from an interest perspective, and that’s a guy who, to this day, I could text right now and be like, ‘What’s up? I have a question and need some advice.’ He’ll hit me back right away. Much love to him.”

Punk went on to highlight the current WWE roster, praising its depth of talent. “We have a pretty wealthy locker room when it comes to talent right now. There are a lot of people I would love to get in there with—Gunther, he’s the champ on Raw. Would love to mix it up with my boy Cody [Rhodes]. As far as legends go, the ones that probably aren’t going to happen but are dream matches, Austin is number one with a bullet.”

Punk’s comments come on the heels of his recent main event victory over Seth Rollins during WWE Raw’s premiere on Netflix.

  • AJ Styles: This Injury Is Challenging

AJ Styles returned to WWE television on SmackDown in late 2024, where he faced off against rising star Carmelo Hayes. While Hayes secured the victory, Styles was seen limping to the back after the match, sparking concerns about his condition. WWE later confirmed that Styles had suffered a mid-foot ligament sprain, initially believed by some to be part of the storyline. However, it was soon revealed that the injury was legitimate.

Styles later disclosed that he had sustained a Lisfranc injury, a serious condition affecting the bones and ligaments in the middle of the foot. Styles shared the details with fans on Twitter, describing the severity of the injury. “It’s called a Lisfranc injury. Look it up, it sucks! I thought when I took off my boot, I would have a bone sticking out of my foot,” he wrote. When a fan referenced NFL quarterback Cam Newton’s 2016 season-ending Lisfranc injury, Styles replied, “Bingo, as the kids say….I’m cooked!”

In the latest update, Styles mentioned on Twitter that the injury remains a significant challenge. Fans and colleagues alike continue to wish Styles a speedy and successful recovery.

  • Drew McIntyre Vows To Make John Cena Match Happen

John Cena officially kicked off his farewell tour on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, announcing his entry into next month’s Royal Rumble Match. As one of WWE’s most iconic figures, Cena’s announcement has already drawn attention, with several stars calling out the future Hall of Famer for a match before he steps away.

Among them is Drew McIntyre, who is coming off a loss to Jey Uso on Raw. McIntyre blamed the loss on a \”contact high,\” citing Travis Scott’s surprise appearance at ringside with Uso while smoking a joint. Despite the setback, McIntyre is setting his sights on Cena, making his intentions clear during an appearance on the Babyfaces podcast.

“I want time on the microphone with him, and I want that one-on-one match, and I’m going to make it happen, one way or another,” McIntyre stated. He didn’t hold back, warning Cena of the dangers of crossing paths with him in the Royal Rumble. “Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up in the ring with me in the Rumble because the last person who got in my way at the Rumble last year and was aiming to main event WrestleMania was CM Punk, and I tore his tricep off the bone. I’ll maybe ask Cena to pick the muscle or pick the bone because I’m tearing it or breaking it.”

The Royal Rumble, set for February 1, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, is shaping up to be a pivotal moment in Cena’s farewell tour as it could lead him to the discussed match with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania.

  • Roman Reigns To Compete In The Royal Rumble

For the first time since 2020, Roman Reigns will enter the Royal Rumble. On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Paul Heyman, speaking on behalf of Reigns, announced that \”The Tribal Chief\” has declared for the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble.

Heyman opened the show by addressing Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, proclaiming that Reigns is determined to reclaim the title he lost to Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 40 – Night 2. Reigns aims to achieve this by winning the Royal Rumble and earning a shot at the championship.

This announcement marks a notable shift, as Reigns has entered the last four Royal Rumble events as the WWE Universal or Undisputed WWE Champion, rather than as a Royal Rumble match competitor. Reigns previously won the Royal Rumble in 2015, a victory that was overshadowed by fan backlash when the audience favored Bryan Danielson (then Daniel Bryan) over him. Despite an endorsement from The Rock, the win remains one of the most polarizing moments in Royal Rumble history.

The 2025 Royal Rumble is already shaping up to be a blockbuster event, with other top stars like John Cena and CM Punk also declaring their entries. The event will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He\’s going to have our loyalty forever because of that. More than anything, we\’re super excited for this day.\”

Ross and Marshall are currently two-thirds of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions, alongside Dustin Rhodes. However, they have been off television since September due to an injury to Marshall. With their official signing, the Von Erichs are poised to make an even greater impact within AEW.

Speculation is growing that Malakai Black may be finishing his run with AEW.

During Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay defeated Buddy Matthews in a high-energy match. Following the bout, Ospreay urged Matthews to \”step out of the shadow of Malakai Black,\” fueling rumors about Black’s status with the promotion.

Fightful Select reports that “those that we spoke to in the company were of the belief that he was finishing up with AEW if he hadn\’t already. They did not clarify if he\’d be appearing on TV again.”

This speculation arises despite prior reports suggesting option years in Black’s contract extending through 2025, and Tony Khan publicly stating that Black was under contract until 2027. It remains unclear whether his contract has ended, an option was declined or exercised, or if there has been any formal transaction.

As of now, Black is still listed on AEW’s official website. However, he has not wrestled for the company since Full Gear.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see Black back in action, as he is scheduled to wrestle Irion at Coastal Championship Wrestling’s Havoc & Haze 9 in Tampa on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
