  • Kevin Owens Gives Update On His Recovery From Neck Surgery

Kevin Owens has provided an update on his recovery from neck fusion surgery. Speaking to the media at a NASCAR race in Daytona, Florida, Owens revealed that the procedure was a \”best case scenario\” but that his future in the ring remains uncertain.

Owens, who underwent the surgery in July, explained that there was a great deal of uncertainty heading into the procedure regarding its severity. He was relieved to receive some positive news from his surgeon.

“It was very stressful going into it because we weren’t really sure how severe the fusion was going to be, how many levels, all this stuff. Thankfully, it ended up being only one level which was the best case scenario for something like this,” he explained.

The \”levels\” in a neck fusion refer to the number of vertebrae that need to be fused. A single-level fusion, which Owens had, is a less complex procedure with a generally better recovery outlook than a multi-level fusion.

Despite the successful surgery, Owens was candid about the long and uncertain road ahead. \”There’s no guarantee that it’s going to work,” he said, explaining that the recovery is a long process of seeing how his body heals.

“Fingers crossed, I get to come back to wrestling in the next year. I really don’t know. My goal is to come back, so hopefully that happens,” he said. He added that while he has enjoyed the extended time with his family, he is \”jonesing to be back out on the road and back doing what I love.”

“He can’t make himself a sandwich, let alone write a storyline that will at last,\” Hager said. \”He can spend a lot of money and make a big debut and make a lot of fireworks.”

Hager claimed that \”everything changed after Cody Rhodes left\” in 2022, after which he says it \”became a free for all.\” He also alleged that at one point, Khan \”would not respond to his messages for like two weeks\” when Chris Jericho was trying to contact him.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion also spoke about what he perceived as a lack of structure and communication backstage. \”They stopped doing production meetings, they stopped doing anything to make the show timely,\” he stated. \”We would be waiting around till like 5:00 PM to find out what we’re doing that day.”

In a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Jake Hager recounted a story about a \”wrestlers-only\” meeting that took place in 2022 after the incident involving CM Punk. Hager claimed the meeting was interrupted by an angry Tony Khan, who allegedly yelled at the talent. Hager stated he believed the reason for the outburst was that FTR had refused to come to television that day because they didn\’t like the creative plans.

Both members of FTR have since taken to social media to refute Hager\’s version of events. Dax Harwood posted a statement directly addressing the claims. “Cash and I were at the all-talent only meeting that was called by Bryan, Jericho, and Mox. Tony never interrupted,” Harwood wrote. “Cash and I have NEVER refused to show up to work… Im not really sure where all this is coming from, but it’s mostly not true.”

Cash Wheeler also refuted Hager\’s story and went a step further, sharing a screenshot of a direct message exchange he had with Hager about the comments. The back-and-forth between the two stars adds another layer to the story.

Speaking with TMZ, Henry commented on the situation, which saw Raja Jackson, son of MMA legend Quinton \”Rampage\” Jackson, legitimately knock out and injured Syko Stu. Henry stated that he believes the injured wrestler, Syko Stu, shoulders some of the blame for what happened.

“You’ve got to be careful, one, who you’re messing with, and, two, what kind of example are you as a veteran for inciting a riot with a kid,” Henry said.

\”The World\’s Strongest Man\” noted that while he also chastised Raja for needing to have more \”respect for the business\” and to control his anger, he feels the primary fault lies with Stu for instigating the situation. The incident was preceded by an altercation where Stu hit Raja with a drink can.

\”If indeed what I saw was what I saw, which is people before the show, during the day time, drinking and intoxicated or partially intoxicated, and you bust a bottle over a guy’s head and talk trash like that guy was not going to do nothing, yeah, you’re at fault,” Henry stated.

One day after his loss at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Swerve Strickland has posted a cryptic message on social media. His post suggests a potential change in mindset for the former champion.

In a post on his social media on Monday morning, Strickland made a statement. \”It was time to start gatekeeping wrestling again,” he wrote. The message comes after a brutal night for the top star at Wembley Stadium.

At Forbidden Door event, Swerve Strickland unsuccessfully challenged Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship. After the match, Okada continued his assault, targeting Strickland’s already injured knee. The champion trapped Swerve’s leg between the ring post and the steel steps before hitting it with a steel chair.

The attack was interrupted by Strickland\’s manager, Prince Nana, who attempted to make the save with a steel pipe. However, this was followed by the surprise return of Wardlow, who attacked Nana and revealed himself to be the newest member of Okada\’s faction, the Don Callis Family.

Strickland has been working through a legitimate torn meniscus injury for some time. He is expected to take time off to heal up.

  • WWE Makes Big Change To Two Title Belts

The future of the WWE Speed Championships has officially been revealed. During the NXT Heatwave premium live event, NXT General Manager Ava announced that both the men\’s and women\’s Speed titles are now officially part of the NXT brand and will be defended on NXT programming.

The announcement puts an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the championships. The titles were originally created for \”WWE Speed,\” a weekly show that aired exclusively on the social media platform X. However, the show has not aired a new episode since July, and it was recently reported that the brand was likely discontinued, leaving the status of its championships in question.

With Ava\’s announcement, it is now confirmed that while the show is gone, the titles will live on as part of the NXT brand.

In addition to confirming the new home for the titles, Ava also made a further announcement regarding the Women\’s Speed Championship, which is currently held by Sol Ruca. A four-woman, inter-promotional tournament will be held to determine the next number one contender.

The tournament will feature one woman from the WWE main roster, one woman from NXT, one woman from TNA Wrestling, and one woman from AAA. • Tony Khan Announces Major Rule Change For AEW\’s Casino Gauntlet Title Shot

AEW President Tony Khan has announced a rule change for the world title shot contracts that are earned by winning the annual Casino Gauntlet match. Moving forward, the winner will be required to give one week\’s notice before executing their contract for a championship match.

Speaking at the post-event media scrum for the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Khan explained the reasoning behind the new rule. He stated that the change is being made to add more \”integrity\” to the championships and to allow the company to promote its world title bouts.

“I want AEW to be different and I’ve been listening to the feedback and the voice of the fans and I think people want the championships in the sport of pro wrestling to have integrity,” Khan said. “I don’t want to have a big ticket championship match that we are unable to advertise and also I don’t really want to necessarily utilize a stipulation here that’s being utilized other places.”

He added, “That’s why going forward, I want to set the tone that from now on I think the right thing to do is all contract executions should be on at least a week’s notice so we can properly promote the matches.”

The change comes after several instances of the contract being used in a \”Money in the Bank\” style. Most notably, Christian Cage attempted to cash in his contract during the main event of the Revolution pay-per-view in March, turning the AEW World Championship match into a three-way.

The current holder of the men\’s Casino Gauntlet contract is MJF, who won the opportunity at the All In: Texas pay-per-view. Athena won the women\’s version and executed her contract in advance to set up her match with Toni Storm at Forbidden Door.
