  • Shayna Baszler Knocks Becky Lynch Over Getting Pregnant While Being Champion

Shayna Baszler continues to go on the attack towards Becky Lynch over becoming a mother.

The former NXT Women’s Champion knocked the former RAW Women’s Champion for getting pregnant while being one of the top stars in WWE.

She did so while making an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Bump.

\”No, I think it\’s garbage,\” Baszler said. \”What are we teaching? Responsibility? She had responsibilities to uphold as \’the champion\’ of the division. Like, take care of your responsibilities first. Don\’t leave the division in an uproar and then hand your title away to whoever you feel [deserves it].”

Baszler continued by noting that it’s ridiculous how everyone is saying that it’s wonderful but she thinks that if Lynch was your daughter then you would smack her upside the head and tell her that she needs to be smarter. Basylzer added that it’s a double standard.

Lynch is due in December with her first child with Seth Rollins, who proposed to her back in August.

She announced the news last month on an episode of RAW, which also saw her award Asuka the championship.

  • Details On Backlot Brawl Production At NXT TakeOver: In Your House

WWE went back to a previous gimmick match that hadn’t been used in several years back at the NXT TakeOver: In Your House special.

NXT Champion Adam Cole successfully retained the title over the Velveteen Dream in a Backlot Brawl this past Sunday night in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University on the WWE Network.

According to a report by Wrestling Inc, Michael Hayes, Triple H and Jeremy Borash produced the match. If you recall, these are the same producers who were in charge of the highly praised Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36 between AJ Styles and The Undertaker.

It was noted that while there may have been other people that had a hand in it, they were the main people in between takes that made changes or suggestions.

Per the report, WWE had to take a break after Cole took the bump into the windshield. Thus, it was noticeable that the blood had already dried up as Cole had a cut on his arm.

The Backlot Brawl didn’t take as long to film as the Boneyard match, which took eight hours to film, while the set took a week to build.

Instead, Filming for the Backlot Brawl started after midnight due to weather and it only took three hours to complete.

  • WWE Star Posts Cryptic Mental Hospital Video

One WWE star decided to share quite an interesting video on social media.

That star is Tamina, who has been absent from WWE television since her loss last month to Bayley at Money in the Bank.

The SmackDown star took to Twitter where she shared a promo that featured her inside of a mental hospital in order to get over how her character has been pushed to the brink.

She’s in a straight jacket and sitting on the floor. This is where she screamed, “Ten years, I have given my life to you. And for what? Nothing!”

In her original post, which has been deleted, she wrote in the caption, “After my devastating loss at #MITB and 10 years of being used and abused it has finally happened…”The Trepidation.”

In the middle of the video, she is quoted by stating, “A person can only take so much before they crack,” but admits “I have never been more alive in all my life.”

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on whether she is slated to debut this new persona on television or if she did this on her own as a way to show off a character idea she has.

  • Update On Charlotte Flair’s WWE NXT Status

An interesting report has surfaced online regarding the status of Charlotte Flair in WWE NXT.

Of course, Flair dropped the NXT Women\’s Championship to Io Shirai, who pinned Rhea Ripley to win the title, in the headliner of Sunday’s NXT Takeover: In Your House event.

After the match, fans speculated that since Flair didn’t take the pinfall, she could be headed towards a singles program with the new champion. However, that’s not the case, according to a report by Wrestling Inc.

Per their report, Flair is actually done with NXT for the time being. With Flair exiting from NXT, it appears that WWE will be going towards a program for the new champion with Ripley.

The fallout from this event and what’s next for Shirai will take place on Wednesday’s episode of NXT on the USA network.

Triple H addressed the outcome of this contest on the post-event media call.

This is where he noted that Flair has always been a RAW talent, but noted that she’s worked all three brands as of late. Triple H also said that the finish was done for a long term storyline.

WWE went back to a brief program with Asuka for Flair on Monday\’s episode of RAW.

  • Io Shirai Wins WWE NXT Women’s Title

Charlotte Flair didn’t survive the Triple Threat Match as NXT Women’s Champion against two of the best stars that NXT has to offer as Io Shiri dethroned her.

Shirai won the NXT Women’s Championship by beating Rhea Ripley and Flair in the main event of the NXT TakeOver: In Your House special on Sunday night.

It was a wild match that saw them brawl over ringside. At one point, Flair used a kendo stick on her challengers. Flair sent Io through the window part of the set while Ripley threw a plant at Flair. Io did a dive off the roof of the house set onto Flair and Ripley.

The finish saw Io hit a moonsault to Rhea’s head off the top rope for the win.

This feud all started when Flair defeated Ripley by submission to win the NXT Women\’s Championship at WrestleMania 36 – Night 2. Fast forward to the April 8th episode of NXT, Shirai won a ladder match to earn a championship match against Flair.

Moving along to the May 6th episode, Io won the match against Flair but failed to win the championship due to the DQ victory.

After the contest, Rhea made her return to NXT television in order to make the save for Io. Then, a match between Shirai and Ripley ended in a no-contest on the May 20th episode when Flair attacked them leading to this title match.

  • Karrion Kross Makes Short Work Of Tommaso Ciampa In WWE NXT TakeOver Debut

Karrion Kross now can say that he had a match featured on the main card of an NXT TakeOver special.

As seen at Sunday’s (June 7, 2020) WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House in Winter Park, Florida, the former Impact Wrestling star did so when he took on Tommaso Ciampa that saw Kross go over the former NXT Champion.

It was a short match that saw Kross be booked strong with Ciampa not getting a ton of offense in. The finish saw Kross lock in the Kross Jacket submission, which is a rear-naked choke.

When Kross first signed with the company, it was reported that he was being brought in as a top star and WWE is living up to that expectation.

Back in April, this feud started when Kross attacked Ciampa from behind as Ciampa was doing a backstage promo. WWE paired Kross up with his real-life girlfriend, Scarlett. Fast forward to the May 20th episode of NXT, WWE had Ciampa cut a promo about Kross to make this match official.

What are your thoughts on Kross going over? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

  • Adam Cole Retains NXT Title In Backlot Brawl

The Velveteen Dream didn’t dethrone Adam Cole as WWE NXT Champion as he failed to win the title.

The Backlot Brawl aired during Sunday’s WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House at Full Sail University on the WWE Network. WWE actually had taped this match in late March.

As seen in the contest, Cole went over in the contest when he hit a Candian Destroyer onto a pile of chairs for the win. Cole arrived at the fight in a lifted truck while Dream drove to the fight in a lambo.

They brawled around and at one point, an Uber showed up for Cole, who was trying to leave. Dream pushed Cole off the ladder and onto the windshield of the car.

Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish showed up but were taken out by Dexter Loomis, who put them in his car and drove away.

This was actually a rematch from the May 6th episode of NXT on the USA Network that saw Cole successfully retain the championship. However, WWE continued the program.

WWE set up this contest back on the May 27th episode of NXT when Cole had a Zoom call with NXT General Manager William Regal to address his problems with Dream.

Cole added a stipulation, which was if Dream loses then Dream can never get a title shot again as long as Cole is the champion.

  • Keith Lee Retains NXT North American Title At TakeOver: In Your House

Johnny Gargano isn’t a champion once again in WWE NXT as Keith Lee held onto the NXT North American Championship.

The former NXT Champion failed to beat Lee to win the NXT North American Championship at the WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University on the WWE Network.

The contest featured the two stars having plenty of time to tell the story of Gargano willing to do anything to get the win including working over the eyes of the champion and outside interference by his wife, Candice LeRae. In the end, Lee picked up the win by hitting his finisher.

WWE didn’t give this feud a ton of build-up as they had a run-in a few weeks back along with Candice LeRae and Mia Yim. WWE later confirmed that Gargano would indeed challenge Lee for the title at this show back on the May 27th episode of NXT.

Lee won the North American Title Match back on the January 22nd episode of NXT on the USA Network when he beat Roderick Strong for it.

WWE holds the fallout episode from this show and match of NXT on Wednesday in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University.

What are your thoughts on Keith Lee retaining the NXT North American Title? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

  • Triple H Discusses NXT Stars Having Hard Time With Empty Arena Shows

Triple H spoke with CBS Sports for a new interview to promote the NXT TakeOver: In Your House special.

During the interview, he talked about the difficulties for those in NXT with having to wrestle in the empty Performance Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. It should be noted that a few weeks ago, WWE decided to have Performance Center recruits work as fans in the crowd.

Triple H started out by talking about how he’s very proud of the product that they’ve continued to put out. He noted how NXT had to drift along on the tail of RAW and SmackDown in regards to move as they were the last in the three-show order. He noted how there were a lot of times that they were scrambling to pick up the chains last and move with it.

He stated that it was difficult to do but thinks the talent has done a remarkable job.

\”I read a quote the other day where a talent said everybody hates doing these empty-arena shows. Of course, they do. No one wants to wrestle in an empty arena. No one wants to get COVID either. “These empty-arena shows are what they are.”

He continued by stating that WWE feels like it\’s really important right now in the world for people to be entertained while also doing everything they can from a safety standpoint and following guidelines to continue putting on a product.

\”It\’s a different product and it\’s hard for talent, especially in NXT where some of the talent are younger and newer.

I can\’t even imagine if I\’d only been in the business for a couple of years and I\’m just starting to get used to having a lot of fans at the shows and now they take all the fans away. I\’m expected to do the matches still and put one-hundred percent into everything else. It\’d be really hard. It\’s a tough thing.”

He stated that everything they do goes back to being taught to listen to the reactions from fans and react to it. He stated that you can guide them from there but now, there’s nothing to guide you.

He called it really tough but understands that this isn’t going to last forever. He noted that he’s a big believer the talent will rise to the top, the cream will rise to the top. He added that if they continue to put out great shows, people will continue to watch.

  • FTR Shares How Randy Orton & Other Stars Tried To Help Them In WWE

FTR, the former Revival, made an appearance on Jim Cornette’s podcast where they spoke about their time in WWE.

During the interview, they recalled how Randy Orton was not only a good friend but an even better top star to them as he would go and pitch to work with the former WWE Tag Team Champions on television.

\”With Randy, who has become one of our mentors and one of our really close friends, we talked to him every single day. He fought for us so hard to get us on TV with him every single week because he believed in our work ethic and he believed in what we brought to the table.

We watched him go to Vince every single week, or Hunter or whoever, and say, \’we gotta keep this up\’.\”

It was added that there were other WWE stars in addition to Orton who pitched McMahon about working with them. If an idea go through then they would do it for a few weeks then have it taken away without putting any juice on it.

The Usos, Roman Reigns, and Shane McMahon were mentioned as guys who wanted to work with them and went to management about working together.

  • WWE Star Vents Frustration Over Not Being On SmackDown

One WWE star is not happy with his current role on television and decided to take to social media to let fans know about it.

It all started when a fan sent a tweet to Ali claiming that he had one of the easiest jobs in WWE.

The fan stated that Mustafa Ali was being paid not to do anything. Ali took issue with that opinion and expressed his displeasure with no working. He wrote the following:

“Yeah, man. It’s real nice to be in your prime and wanting to use the exposure you get to bring light to serious topics, but instead forced to the sidelines for reasons beyond your control. Real nice to not be allowed to do what you’re passionate about.”

Since the introduction of the mystery hacker on Friday Night SmackDown, Ali has been rumored as the possible star behind it.

It should be noted that the character hasn’t been mentioned on SmackDown in a few weeks, which some fans think that the gimmick is losing steam.

Ali hasn\’t worked a match since February 7th, which was a dark match at a SmackDown TV event where he went over Drew Gulak.

  • Grudge Match Set For WWE Backlash

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Backlash PPV.

During Friday’s episode of SmackDown on FOX, WWE confirmed that Sheamus would battle Jeff Hardy at this show. The two stars have been feuding for several weeks now to lead to this contest.

The two stars were part of the tournament to crown a new Intercontinental Champion but Hardy was removed when he was featured in a hit & run angle that also involved Elias while Sheamus lost in the semi-finals to Daniel Bryan. Both the segment and match took place last week on SmackDown.

WWE presents the Backlash pay-per-view event on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming week. Here is the updated card:

  • EC3 Teases He’s The Mystery Man In Impact Slammiversary Promo With Ex-WWE Stars

EC3 got fans talking over the latest video that he shared on his official Twitter account.

Earlier this week, Impact Wrestling released a commercial to promote their Slammiversary pay-per-view event.

The video showed a news anchor announcing how several WWE stars had been let go and that their futures are unknown while the world deals with the pandemic.

The video EC3 shared indicates that he could be the mystery man shown watching the commercial as he removed the hoodie to reveal himself. His video featured footage shown in the commercial with flashes of various stars who had previously worked in Impact.

Although not confirmed, a theory is going around that is how the mystery man will be revealed at Slammiversary.

All WWE stars that were released in April including those in the commercial are under 90-day no-compete that will expire a few days before Slammiversary

This could just be his way to play into the rumors or he could be the mystery man. Nothing is confirmed until the PPV event that takes place on Sunday, July 18th. No matches have been announced for this show.

  • RAW Star Getting Possible WWE Title Run, New Role For Ex-Producer

It appears that one star on the RAW brand could end up getting a potential run as the WWE Champion now that WWE has put a former producer as his manager.

It was reported earlier this week that MVP recently transitioned from the role of a Producer to a full-time wrestler. It was noted that he is not currently working behind-the-scenes as a Producer.

Of course, MVP was brought back earlier this year for the Royal Rumble Match and later received a job as a producer.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman wanted MVP to work as Bobby Lashley\’s mouthpiece for a WWE Title run.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on whether Lashley’s current feud with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre will end with a title change. The belief since McIntyre won the title was that he would have a long title reign.

Lashley will get his first title shot from McIntyre at the WWE Backlash pay-per-view event on June 14.

It turns out that MVP was furloughed as a Producer in mid-April alongside other Producers in the company due to budget cuts related to the coronavirus. When this happened, MVP was already in the storyline with Lashley. Thus, WWE kept him on as just a talent.

When things start to go back to normal, it\’s possible that he returns to the Producer role.

  • Matt Riddle Details Royal Rumble Verbal Altercation With Brock Lesnar

Matt Riddle recently did an interview with TalkSport.com to talk about his Royal Rumble appearance and the encounter that he had with Brock Lesnar backstage at the event.

At the time, it was reported that they passed each other while walking backstage and a tense encounter ensued. It was noted that Lesnar saw Riddle and wanted him to know the reality of the situation between them.

Riddle recalled being told about the appearance and how he had thoughts about what would happen if he got the chance to be in the ring with Lesnar.

“Then, of course, [Paul] Heyman and his security guard – I won’t mention his name [laughs] – him and his security guard come up to me and basically told me I had no chance in hell – it was very Vince McMahon like [laughs] – no chance in hell that I was going to get that match with him and I’d have better luck doing something else.”

Riddle admitted that he was disappointed when he was told that because he got this far and knew it wouldn’t happen.

He added that “You’re literally holding me like this [tightly]. Like, he’s holding me like we’re friends but we’re not. And then he [Lesnar] tells me ‘it’s never going to happen.\’”

Riddle noted that he was just heartbroken like when a girl turns you down on a date but doesn’t mean give up completely. He stated that he went back to the drawing board and thought that he came on a little too strong this time.

He now looks at it differently and might try another way to convince Lesnar.

Riddle noted how he’s stopped calling out top guys now that he’s on the main roster and realizing that these guys only really work off one thing and it’s money. Thus, he knows that he needs to become more valuable and draw enough money to get into the ring with them.

  • FTR On The Day They Lost Faith In WWE, Triple H Supporting NXT Talent

FTR, the former Revival, made an appearance on Jim Cornette’s podcast where they spoke about their time in WWE.

During the interview, they recalled a segment that they had back on the 25 Anniversary episode of Monday Night RAW where they were attacked by some legends. Before the segment, they worked with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

After the match, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Road Dog came out to the ring and hit their finishers to the former WWE Tag Team Champions.

Regarding angle and whether Triple H changes his support for NXT talent once they move up to the main roster, Dax Harwood started out by stating that Triple H always had respect for them. He said that they were his guys due to their commitment to NXT.

He recalled how they did everything they could from hard work to having long matches to make NXT into what it became.

“When RAW 25 came along and we heard rumblings of that day about what we were doing and then we found out, it broke my heart man and I hope that doesn\’t sound corny or cheesy.”

He ran through the spots before recalling the aftermath.

\”We came to the back and I walked right through gorilla and I punched the wall. It was a brick wall and punched it as hard as I could and I started flipping out. I remember Cash just like grabbed me and he\’s just like, \’calm down it\’s going to be okay it\’s going to all right.\’ I was in tears not because I was sad but that I was so upset and hurt because a guy that we had and we still do a guy that we had so much respect for, we couldn\’t believe that he would allow that to happen to us. On the flip side of that, it\’s not his company, you know, what I mean it\’s he doesn\’t call the shots.”

Cash Wheeler jumped in and stated that it wasn’t really the segment but the situation made before and after it. He recalled how no one aside from X-Pac looked at them. Only X-Pac came up and told them how big of a fan he was of them and thanked them for the bumps.

\”You know that really hurt us. So I can\’t say that you know anybody loses faith in Hunter. I\’m not sure if we lost faith in Hunter that day as much as we just lost faith in that particular company in that particular business and we just knew from then on that wasn\’t the place for us.\”

  • Details On AEW’s Plans For Fyter Fest

Unlike last year, AEW Fyter Fest will not be a stand-alone event but rather a special that will take place over the course of two Dynamite episodes spanning two weeks.

The promotion has already confirmed the first week will be on July 1st and the second week on July 8th on TNT.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Fyter Fest will be held on July 1st and 2nd, which means the first show will be live while the other will be taped.

Per the report, everything from now until Fyter Fest has written out by AEW President Tony Khan with the idea that this event is being booked like a pay-per-view show. Fans can expect matches to run longer in length and having PPV quality bouts on their weekly television show.

Every title is expected to be defended. Meltzer also speculated that this special could be one of a few that will fill in the gaps a bit between actual pay-per-view events since AEW only holds four specials per year.

The company\’s next \’traditional\’ pay-per-view event is AEW All Out, which takes place on Saturday, September 5th.

After a few weeks of build, WWE booked Mia Yim vs. Candice LeRae in a singles match.

It was a fun back and forth affair while it lasted. The match started the show but it ended in a double count-out finish. After the match, a brawl broke out with the likes of Teagan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart, and more joining in. Johnny Gargano came out to get the referee off his wife and Keith Lee ran out to even things out.

Some fans thought that WWE might save this contest for the NXT TakeOver: In your House special or even have a mixed tag team match with Yim teaming up with Lee and LeRae teaming with her husband, Gargano, at this show.

However, WWE decided to split them up and have the women work the go-home show for the special while at the special, Lee will make his next title defense against Gargano.

In between a commercial break, a mixed tag team match with all four stars did take place. Gargano and LeRae went over when Gargano used his car keys to rake the eyes of Lee and get the pinfall.

Drake Maverick vs. El Hijo del Fantasma in the finals of the tournament to crown a new Interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion is in the books.

The match was fine with Fantasma going over in the main event. The finish saw two masked men come down to the ring but Maverick took them out with an outside dive.

Back in the ring, Fantasma hit his finisher for the win. After the match, Triple H came out and offered Maverick a new deal to re-sign with the company.

The whole storyline of Maverick being allowed in the tournament despite his public release was still something weird. However, NXT officials managed to pull a good thing out of a bad situation.

It also allowed Maverick to show more of his personality and work rate on a bigger stage compared to 205 Live.

Well, instead of turning it into a WWE Network special, WWE decided to air on NXT TV to further build Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream.

Cole will defend the NXT Title against the challenger at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. There were various stars talking about the match and it was simply a hype piece.

They did do a segment with The Undisputed Era being taken by limo with everyone in suits being taken to a fine restaurant.

There’s a stipulation to go along with this contest as Dream can’t challenge for the title as long as Cole is champion should he lose with a setting to be determined, which will be a ring in the middle of a parking lot.

A Triple Threat Match to determine the new #1 contender’s for the Tag Team Titles took place as Tyler Breeze & Fandango battled The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong) and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.

As expected with these three teams, it was a really good match with them getting plenty of time to work and tell the story that they wanted. This marked the return for Fandango, who had been previously sidelined with an injury.

As seen on the show, Breeze and Fandango went over to become the new #1 contender\’ to the straps, which are currently held by Imperium.

Fandango won the contest when he pinned Fish with a leg drop off the top rope. Indus Sher made their presence known post-match as they had a staredown with the champs and the new contenders.

Fandango and Breeze are two guys who can go in the ring and will put on a good match with Imperium but also a tag team who can eat the loss and still be over.

  • Drake Maverick Signs New WWE Deal, Interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion Crowned

El Hijo del Fantasma is the interim WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion and Drake Maverick is staying with WWE.

Maverick battled Fantasma in the finals of the tournament to crown a new champion on Wednesday’s episode of NXT on the USA Network.

The back and forth bout took place in the main event. The finish saw two masked men, who had been attacking various stars over the last few weeks, come down to the ring but Maverick took them out with an outside dive. Moments later, Fantasma hit his finisher for the win.

Post-match, Triple H came out and offered Maverick a new deal to re-sign with the company. Of course, Maverick was released back in April due to budget cuts but allowed to work through July due to a clause in his deal.

The tournament was done due to current NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin being stuck in the UK over travel restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic. It started back in April.

Group A consisted of Kushida, Drake Maverick, Tony Nese, and Jake Atlas while Group B had Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, El Hijo del Fantasma, Akira Tozawa, and Gentleman Jack Gallagher.

With the travel ban preventing Devlin from making it to the United States, Devlin is expected back on NXT television in the near future.
