AJ Styles has responded to fans who accused WWE of bribing him to stay away from AEW, and his reply was short, sharp, and entirely unbothered.
Following reports that AEW had prepared a serious offer to Styles before his retirement and WWE Hall of Fame induction, some fans on social media took the narrative further. One fan told Styles directly to enjoy his bribery. Styles did not let it pass without comment.
“If bribing me leads to getting the job that I want, that’s great.”
Styles retired from in-ring competition after losing to GUNTHER at the 2026 Royal Rumble and has since moved into a talent scouting role within WWE. It is a position that keeps him inside the business without the physical demands of competing, and by his own account, exactly where he wants to be.
The accusation stems from the theory that WWE accelerated Styles’ Hall of Fame induction and offered him a meaningful long-term backstage position specifically to prevent him from signing with AEW as his career wound down. He has taken on a behind-the-scenes role with WWE as a talent scout.
