Barely 72 hours after stepping into a wrestling ring for the first time, AJ Styles’ son Avery Jones moved to legally protect his wrestling identity. On June 29th, Jones filed to trademark his name, signaling that his recent debut was the opening move in a planned career rather than a one-off appearance.
The filing is broad. It covers both merchandise and a full suite of entertainment services, which points to long-term commercial ambitions from a wrestler only one match into his career.
According to the filing tracked through the USPTO Database, the trademark spans apparel including shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, hats, bandanas, and socks, alongside a range of entertainment offerings.
Those services include wrestling exhibitions and performances, wrestling contests, televised and live personal appearances, and providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.
Avery Jones’ In-Ring Debut
Jones, who has also been billed as Avery Styles, made his professional wrestling debut on June 26th for Squared Circle Action (SCA), a regional independent promotion based in Royston, Georgia. The match took place at SCA’s Freedom Fling event at the Royston Dome.
He faced Ashton Martin in singles competition and came away with the win. Jones entered to his father’s “DemiGods” theme and worked in several of AJ Styles’ signature spots during the bout, including a slide under the guardrail and a Phenomenal Forearm.
AJ Styles was in his son’s corner throughout and got physically involved in the finish. Styles teased hitting the Styles Clash himself before letting Avery perform the move on Martin, then counted the pinfall to seal his son’s debut victory.
