Will Ospreay is heading to Wembley Stadium with a world title shot in hand.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, Ospreay defeated Swerve Strickland in the final of the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. The victory not only earned him “The Owen,” but also a match for the AEW World Championship at All In, making it one of the most consequential bouts on the card.
Both men entered with plenty on the line. Ospreay was looking to finally capture the tournament after falling short in the 2025 final, while Strickland had the chance to book another opportunity at the AEW World Championship. With two of the promotion’s biggest stars meeting in the final, the match served as a fitting tribute to Owen Hart’s legacy.
The bout closed out the entire event, with fans sticking around to see the two go to war at the end of a long night of wrestling that also featured TNA Slammiversary and WWE NXT Great American Bash. Ospreay and Strickland held nothing back, trading heavy offense in a hard-hitting battle that turned bloody, with both competitors busted open before it was over.
In the end, Ospreay connected with a Tiger Driver ’98 to put Strickland away and win the match cleanly. The hard-fought victory punched his ticket to All In.
Launched in 2022 to honor the late Owen Hart, the men’s tournament has quickly become one of AEW’s signature annual traditions. Adam Cole won the inaugural edition in 2022, followed by Ricky Starks in 2023, Bryan Danielson in 2024, and “Hangman” Adam Page in 2025. Ospreay now adds his name to that list, and he will challenge for the AEW World Championship when All In emanates from Wembley Stadium in London on August 30.
