Steven Spielberg’s new film Disclosure Day opens with a professional wrestling match between AEW stars Brian Cage and Lance Archer. The movie arrived in theaters across the United States on Friday, June 12, and the very first thing audiences see is the two Don Callis Family members trading offense in the ring.

The opening sequence drops viewers into the middle of the match inside a packed, Lucha Underground-style arena, shot with Spielberg’s signature camera work. Chavo Guerrero Jr. appears as the referee. After a few seconds of in-ring action, the camera finds Josh O’Connor’s character, Daniel Kellner, in the crowd, and the film’s main plot takes off from there.

AEW promoted the appearances on social media Friday, telling fans to watch for Cage and Archer when checking out the film this weekend.

A Cameo Kept Secret For Over A Year

PWInsider first reported in April 2025 that wrestling scenes had been filmed for the project, with the footage shot at The Paramount Theater in Long Island, New York. Cage and Archer later confirmed their involvement, but the scene itself never appeared in a single trailer or piece of marketing. Universal sat on the wrestling cold open all the way to release day.

Guerrero did double duty on the production, choreographing the match in addition to playing the referee. As previously covered, Guerrero said the director turned out to be a longtime fan, recalling that “he was a wrestling fan” who swapped Andre the Giant stories with him on set.

Disclosure Day Details

Disclosure Day stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. Spielberg directed from a screenplay by longtime collaborator David Koepp, and the sci-fi thriller follows a cybersecurity whistleblower and a Kansas City meteorologist who work to expose proof of extraterrestrial contact. It marks Spielberg’s first film since 2021’s West Side Story.

As for Cage and Archer’s day jobs, the Don Callis Family is set to be heavily featured on the Saturday, June 13 episode of AEW Collision.
