Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed he faced a health scare earlier this year, discovering a painful lump during a shower that turned out to be epididymitis rather than something more serious.
Johnson spoke about the experience in a new interview with Esquire, saying he kept the concern from his wife, Lauren, while waiting for answers.
“I didn’t even tell Lauren. I didn’t want to worry her before I knew if it was anything to even worry about. By the way: I’m fine. But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful.”
His doctor initially told him he was dealing with epididymitis or possibly cancer. The day before he could get in to see the doctor, Johnson had a press event for Jumanji where he had to perform publicly while carrying the uncertainty.
“So I had to live with that for those twenty-four hours, not knowing — and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches.”
Johnson has had a busy 2026 with the production of a new Jumanji film and the promotion of the upcoming live-action Moana movie.
